Hi everyone
We're really sorry you're having problems. The best way for us to figure out what's going on is for you to email us at [email protected] so we know which blogs to check out. We'll look at your feed to see what's up, and we'll email you individually.
And just so everyone's clear on how the feed works and what else we're doing to get you readers:
When we welcome you in, we activate your profile, which adds your posts to our feed. This feed is promoted on the homepage, and we display 20 pages of it at a time, but you can check right back to our birth.
There are a couple of reasons a blog post might not appear in this feed. If you publish on a bespoke platform rather than one of the biggies like WordPress, Blogger, Posterous, Tumblr and LiveJournal, we might need to do a bit of work to adapt it for our feed. But this is a very occasional problem for us, and we can see this the moment we activate your blog on our network.
And if you post an image with no text before the picture, our feed doesn't have a way to pick up that post (a few words before the image will do the trick).
I know some of you have mentioned this already, but if you're not seeing your blog on the homepage, perhaps it's because blogs get pushed off the homepage pretty fast as we have hundreds and hundreds of busy bloggers in our network. A blogpost usually publishes at the date you started typing, so if it takes you an hour or two to post, your post may appear much further back in our recent feed than you expected. You can change the date and time that your posts publish on your blog, if you're worried about this.
As our community grows, the most recent feed will be more dynamic and posts will move off the homepage at a faster rate. But a bigger community offers so many more advantages. There are more of you to share tips and support each other in the forum, more of you to share the community's work through our Twitter feed and Facebook pages, and more of you to check out the featured bloggers in our weekly newsletter. We've also designed a network that enables you to build your own audience, with the forum tips and our own.
But if in doubt, always drop us a line and we'll get back to you as soon as we can.
Elinor
