Any one else having their Blog updates NOT appear on the most recent posts page?

I have posted two articles on my blog today one on the Olympic Torches on eBay and another on the danger of Bouncy Balls in school playgrounds. Neither one of these have been on the most recent posts page. Neither were my updates from yesterday or the day before. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

Yep, but when I asked MNHQ they said they were appearing, and sent me a screenshot. I still never see mine appear! I dont get it at all.

BlackAffronted · 21/05/2012 19:26

I just updated mine about 10 minutes ago, and its not showing.

Miasassy · 21/05/2012 20:05

Well not only is it not showing on my laptop, but it isn't showing up on my DH work computer either and hasn't for 3 days of updates. I have emailed them but not heard back yet. I do see the same peoples blogs getting updated so it is working for some people anyway.

had the same issue - I got sent screenshots. They said that because so many of us are posting, and because the software or whatever it is pulls in the posts from the time you start your post rather than the time you actually hit publish (this is what they told me). Then I realised that my time setting on blogger was one of the american time zones (pacific something - doh) so I've changed it to GMT but haven't checked to see if that made any difference.

Miasassy · 21/05/2012 20:40

Very interesting RJ......I better check my time settings. I didn't even think of that. Will see if that works!!! RJ- You updated your Blog earlier and I know because I did see it on the updated posts, so it looks like that may have done the trick...

oo exciting - thanks for letting me know Miasassy

BlackAffronted · 25/05/2012 08:07

I tested itlast night, I checked what time exactly I started my blog post, it took 10 minutes to write, I checked for a couple of hours after published it & it never appeared.

trulymyrtle · 25/05/2012 23:53

nope - my new post isn't showing. I wonder if any ever were? I've never noticed hits from it - so I assume they've never shown Confused

creativeheights · 26/05/2012 09:13

Thanks for this - really helpful. I didn't think my posts were appearing - but my blogger was set to american time zones so appearing on the recent post pages 8 hours earlier to when I though I had posted it!! Now changed it GMT London.
Thank you :)

BlackAffronted · 27/05/2012 08:48

I changed mine to GMT but it made no difference

Miasassy · 31/05/2012 09:52

Well it is official. I have updated posts over the last few days and nothing is showing despite refreshing several times. All post were showing a couple weeks ago and since then nothing. My times zones are correct and always have been so I don't understand how mumsnet says there is no problem when clearly a good few are having this issue. Grrrrrr...........

Irritating, isnt it?

JimmyMacWhenAreYouComingBack · 31/05/2012 19:44

I get zero traffic from the Bloggers Network thing, I only get traffic if I post in the New Posts thread :(

Vena404 · 02/06/2012 03:19

I have had the same problem, very frustrating.

ElinorMumsnetBloggers · 11/06/2012 14:29

Hi everyone

We're really sorry you're having problems. The best way for us to figure out what's going on is for you to email us at [email protected] so we know which blogs to check out. We'll look at your feed to see what's up, and we'll email you individually.

And just so everyone's clear on how the feed works and what else we're doing to get you readers:

When we welcome you in, we activate your profile, which adds your posts to our feed. This feed is promoted on the homepage, and we display 20 pages of it at a time, but you can check right back to our birth.

There are a couple of reasons a blog post might not appear in this feed. If you publish on a bespoke platform rather than one of the biggies like WordPress, Blogger, Posterous, Tumblr and LiveJournal, we might need to do a bit of work to adapt it for our feed. But this is a very occasional problem for us, and we can see this the moment we activate your blog on our network.

And if you post an image with no text before the picture, our feed doesn't have a way to pick up that post (a few words before the image will do the trick).

I know some of you have mentioned this already, but if you're not seeing your blog on the homepage, perhaps it's because blogs get pushed off the homepage pretty fast as we have hundreds and hundreds of busy bloggers in our network. A blogpost usually publishes at the date you started typing, so if it takes you an hour or two to post, your post may appear much further back in our recent feed than you expected. You can change the date and time that your posts publish on your blog, if you're worried about this.

As our community grows, the most recent feed will be more dynamic and posts will move off the homepage at a faster rate. But a bigger community offers so many more advantages. There are more of you to share tips and support each other in the forum, more of you to share the community's work through our Twitter feed and Facebook pages, and more of you to check out the featured bloggers in our weekly newsletter. We've also designed a network that enables you to build your own audience, with the forum tips and our own.

But if in doubt, always drop us a line and we'll get back to you as soon as we can.
