Transport for a school trip...carseat?

ds (7) is going on a school trip next week. They are not taking a bus for some reason, but are being driven in parents' cars. There has been no mention of carseats, and they're not compulsory here (NZ) for over 5s. So I'm guessing the only kids with carseats will be the ones who are going in their own cars. Do I send ds with his booster seat and hope he forgives me? Or just not worry about it? The drive will be about 30 mins, it's not like it's just around the corner.

I would TBH. Safety first and all that. My wee boy has SN and I take him on any school trips and often a friend will come in our car rather than on the bus, but I always make sure I have a carseat for them. DS is also 7.

I don't think I'll be happy sending him without his seat, but how do I do it without making a big deal out of it if nobody else is bothering?
