WWYD job security vs more money

Background:
DH and I lived in Town A for about 8 yrs. I have a good job there that I really like. They people I work with are nice and I enjoy what I do. DH has a PhD in a very specific field. He hasn't been able to get a job in that field in Town A.
DH has taken a job in Town B on a one yr contract. It's in his field and he enjoys it. I'm currently on mat leave so we're able to live together. In a few months I'll have to move back to Town A for a few months to work off my mat leave.
So our delimma is this. Most likely they will offer DH a 2 or 3 yr contract on about 30 a yr. Do I give up my permant job on about 20 a
year and move to Town B? The distance isn't commutable and we don't want to live apart for longer than absolutely necessary.
Both DH and I could probably get jobs in either town but not as good as current jobs.

sorry, im confused

If he is a scientist, then very likely post-docs will be 2-3 year contracts in academia and funding is sparse (well at least it is in biology which is what my field is).

I think you should be asking yourself what do you want to do, in terms of, can you get the job you want to do (try and ignore the money) in town B? is your job in town A what you WANT to do? in your chosen field etc?

I am sort of in your DHs position but i chose not to move for work and as a consequence (due to being so specialised and overqualified) have not been able to find work locally, probably burnt my bridges with my career as its a fast moving area.

Yes my job is what I want to do. I could possibly find a similar post in Town B but I'd have to start at the bottom again.
With my current job I was able move up in the company with out extra qualifications but I think if I had to start over they would want a degree in my field which I don't have.

maybe maybe not, i think experience goes further than qualification, as long as you can "prove" your experience, iyswim. Maybe put out a few feelers and see what is available.

I've just had a look and I can't find any comprable jobs for me in Town B.

Could you move inbetween areas? so you both have a smaller commute rather than one of you havin a huge commute or need to live separately, id hate that
