Is it an amazing ability to be able to single-handedly hold down a writhing 2-year old on change-table while the other hand manages to whip, wipe and wrap (whip the culprit nappy off, wipe off the evidence and wrap up the baby in a new clean nappy). Or is it the way we manage to manoeuvre a buggy with one hand, whilst dragging a screaming, kicking toddler with the other, and holding a conversation with a shop-keeper at the same time. Or is it the way we have a knack of putting an arch-backed ramrod into a baby car seat (do you notice that in all of the above we are physically making our babies do something they obviously don't want to do?!). Is it our ability to tell the same story night after night with special character voices and not letting slip that we have now told this story so many times that we have lost interest. Or, most of you will recognize this one, is it the pleading and bribery we resort to when taking them - wait for it, supermarket shopping!
When you have a baby, you are essentially the still person you were before. Just a little more sleep deprived, a little more frazzled and probably a little less glamorous.
In our blog, 'If Only They Told Me' I will share some stories, tips and information from mothers and fathers around the world. I hope it will equip you with information and laughter to get you through the years ahead. So that instead of thinking 'if only they told me that would happen'? you'll be mentally prepared and ready to deal with what lies ahead.
