Can I wear this cream and black dress to a wedding?

I need help on this! Have spent ages trying to find a dress for my friend's wedding and eventually found one and bought it. However, I've just realised it's predominantly cream and usually this is a no-no.

Was thinking of wearing it with black shawl, tights, headband and bag. Do you think it would be ok or should it go back to the shop? Help!

Nooooo, it's lovely! Wear it. :)

I would wear with nude tights. I think it is okay as it is not bridal cream. How about asking the bride if she is okay with it? I know what you mean as I would usually stay away from cream, black and red. I think it is a really nice dress.

Oh it's perfectly fine. Not at all wedding-dressy.

Although actually I had reservations about black tights with it too. See how it looks.

Spanky, you wouldn't wear red? Why's that?

RetiredDJ · 24/04/2012 16:19

I'd ask the bride to be sure, but it is a lovely dress.

Thanks so much guys, you've made me feel so much better. Will purchase some nude tights pronto!

I've emailed the link to my friend and told her to honestly tell me if the colour is too similar to her dress.

Thanks for the compliments on the dress :)

I think it is too eye catching and diverts attention from the bride. I think that is probably abit weird of me. My MIL wore red and black to my wedding. But to be fair she hates my guts for stealing her son away from her!Grin

Just an update: my friend said its absolutely fine and then just went on to talking about travel arrangements so I think she genuinely doesn't mind. Just one more bit of help please, would I have to wear tights if I made sure my legs were not milk bottle-like (I'm 35)?

Having white skin is allowed! If you're having skin on display, whether you wear tights is entirely a matter for you. Do whatever you're most comfortable with.

If it's too hot for tights or you don't want to wear them for some other reason Lush do some kind of leg paint that apparently has the same visual effect.

This is fine as it is not bridal cream and does not look bridesmaidy. The rules usually say don't wear white or black to a wedding. xx
