Link Parties

What are your experiences with link parties? Have they increased your traffic? I am curious as to whether it's worth trying and I also wonder whether this is the sort of thing that google hates websites to do...

I tried a blog hop this week, it increased my numbers ever so slightly for that day but I didnt get any new followers or subscribers, and none seemed to visit my blog again.

I've just posted my first ever blog hop - I'll let you know if it makes a difference!

ATO mum I'm still thinking about my list Wink - you're brave to host! I have participated in a few blog hops - I like doing the kate takes 5 list every now and again becasue it gets me off the subject of food... I think that if you particpate reasonably regularly it can increase traffic - I'm finding that this is a slow process... Smile

(but I haven't done my own blog hop where I set out the subject etc)

I started a weekly linky on my blog but no-one takes part, people seem to like reading it though! Don't start one if you'll feel disheartened if no-one joins in!

I find that the Listography linky is really friendly and I do get lots of comments (although when I take part I do make the effort to visit other blogs taking part too). Also the Pinaddicts challenge one is very friendly.

Well, here's my update! I think it has increased my stats a bit, not hugely, but it's early days yet. I always seem to miss other blog hops, so I'm off to check out the ones you've mentioned!

Link up parties can take AGES to a) build up and b) for you to see the traffic from them.

When I first "grew" my blog, link up parties were "core" to my strategy and it did work. But I was joining in about 30-40 per week - and made it part of my (sad) morning routine in marketing my site. They do work, but it is a slow burn. Some parties are better than others - and you have to figure out which. Most tend to be most beneficial if you link up early.

Took me ages to build up my Kids Get Crafty link up - but I think it now drives a lot of traffic for me and for those that join in - as people "know it now". I think that it is something that you have to persevere with. Again. It can take ages.

If you are after growth - Pinterest - has been the fastest to date! It has done crazy things to my stats, but I wonder whether it will all calm down.

So... I am working on growing my FB following and G+ (as google will use it for their SEO algorythms), whilst maintain Twitter and Link up parties.

Sorry for the ramble.

I join in Linky parties and some are better than others - the knitting ones are very good usually. I agree about Pinterest - it is fantastic - Craftsy might be another good thing to do properly, it seems to be growing.
