Porn exposure

What to do? My son (8) and I were trying to access a children's film on a hotel TV and instead of 'Mr Poppers Penguins' an x rated porn film was shown. Despite frantically changing channels, my poor son saw far too much.
After complaints and apologies from the hotel (the blocking system wasn't working apparently), we have moved to somewhere else. However not sure how to handle this. Son seems a bit traumatised (screamed at the time, and says he'll have nightmares).
Feel quite unprepared for this and not sure what to do. Any advice gratefully received.

im sure it depends on what he seen, Id be surprised he would think he is going to have nightmares unless he was given any indication what he witnessed was scary and not just inappropriate. I would just reasure him he will be ok, despite being expossed to something inapropriate and he should try to put it behind him and not attemp to visualise what he had seen. are you actually sure he seen anything and was not just frighted by you frantically changing chanels so thinking it was something scary that had come up? Im sure he would have needed quite a bit of time to see, proccess and realise what he had seen surely before then you'r reactions would have been quicker than his processing when you realised and changed chanel.

thank you festi. He didnt seem to know what he saw exactly, apart from the nudity - maybe best to do nothing unless he mentions it again, think I am more traumatised.
Thanks again.

It definatly sounds like he was more frightened by your quick reactions and assumed it was something scary. I read your post and just pictured how that would play out had it been me and dd and im pretty sure that would be mine and her reaction too, with her trying to work out what had just happened and assuming it must have been scary.
