Blimmin' Heck-a Celebrity Retweet!!!

pockledigg · 02/04/2012 06:32

I have started 'following' on Twitter various slebs that I have an affinity with, and yesterday I sent some tweets, with a link to my blog, to about 20 slebs directly.
One of them has been so kind as to tweet back to me, and retweet my link to his 30000 followers!!!!
I've done this before a couple of times, but no one has ever bothered to reply/retweet before - it's given me a big spike in my page views and followers.
Thought I'd pass it on as a tip.

OOh lucky you! Who was it?

pockledigg · 02/04/2012 08:00

Sorry-he said not to say, but it's not anyone really famous, just someone I've seen on the telly and liked.
Spurred on by my success, I've been tweeting other celebs all morning-I've had one reply, but no more retweets yet.

Oh, excellent! What do you blog about?

pockledigg · 02/04/2012 16:06

Hello, the blog is meant to be funny, well I find it funny. It's about saving money-thrifty tips in a comedic style. Not sure if I'm allowed to post a link or not but here goes. The worst they can do is come round and stamp on me daffs.

ha - you are funny, pockledigg!

I've been doing this too - one of my current baking obsessions is a book called Baked in America. I found out the twitter address for the authors' bakery and every time I post about their cakes, I tweet them and sometimes they retweet it. They only have about 1,500 followers, so not as impressive as your haul, but I was pleased.

I didn't get them to follow me though. Did you offer him homebrew?

What's your twitter id?

pockledigg · 03/04/2012 05:46

Morning RJ-ID is @Charlieblogger. To be honest I don't really understand Twitter, but perhaps I'm thinking too hard about it. Got another retweet yesterday, from a fairly obscure poet-still, he's got over a thousand followers and it's nice of him to do it. I don't ask for a RT-I would just like them to look at the blog. No sleb followers yet though.

I don't understand it either. i don't have a 'smart phone' so if I look at it all it's on my laptop and I just don't think it's got the same impact. And frankly it's another thing I don't have time for... I have linked it to my facebook account (which i have far too much time for) so anything I post on my Rj facebook page automatically gets tweeted. But seeing as I think I only have 9 followers that's not great... Oh well. One day I might get the time to work it out...

No 'smartphone' here either-we rely on yodelling.

Mine have got a few celeb retweets (not sure how- I hadn't tweeted my blogs at celebs! one blog I write got an RT from Graham Lineham about a post I had written and about 3500 read that post which was really scary!) then on sunday Sophie Heawood RT'd a post I had written on my lettersfromladycurd.wordpress.com/ blog and that got over 1000 people reading it. Bit overwhelmed really (plus just got made Mumsnet blog of the week which I am utterly overwhelmed by too)! Never really thought about deliberately targetting blogposts at celebs! I don't think my rambling letters are generally of interest to anyone except amusing me really so I am kind of a bit bemused by it all!

pockledigg · 03/04/2012 20:20

Scary, overwhelmed and bemused. It's an emotional rollercoaster.
