How to add a thumbnail for all posts written on a Blogger blog

For a while now I have wanted to add a visual index of all posts on my site but I didn't know how to do it. Well I finally worked it out (you can see what it looks like here) and so I wrote a tutorial about how to do it in case it helps anyone.

This is for Blogger blogs only.

I was wondering how you have added those social media buttons that you have on the top left of your page, Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter and RSS feed. Is that a Blogger widget?

Oh I saw your tutorial and tried it out. It worked but for lots of posts it didn't give me a thumbnail despite there being images in the post . I ended up deleting it until I get more time to work on it.

hmm, not sure why it didn't work as I didn't have any problems. Can you notice anything that all the posts have in common (the ones that aren't shown properly)? Perhaps the images are in a certain position or size?
Also, if you delete it and load it again do you get the same posts missing?
