Hello all, the blog I write is called the Green Entrepreneur, found surprisingly at www.thegreenentrepreneur.co.uk

I am an inventor of a device called a Gas Saver, which improves the efficiency of a boiler in a home. So naturally, my blog is about my ideas on climate change and renewables and how to lower the cost of living for families, releive fuel poverty and the like.

Things like renewable energy aren't always the best way to save money, or the best for the environment, if that is something you are interested in doing.

But now I am part of the mumsnet bloggers network, I would naturally be keen to do a few more blog posts that aren't just of interest to energy professionals.

So - what would you like to see from an energy efficiency blog?

Thanks all!

Chris

Well, for a start I'm interested in your comment about renewable energy not always being best - why not?

Well, it's extremely expensive for starters. The pay-back in saved energy is going to take a very long time, as opposed to increasing the efficiency of your boiler or insulating your home to keep the heat you paid for in!

Also - if being environmentally friendly is the true aim - then think about how many carbon miles are embedded in that technology. It's made all over the world, flown to one place and assembled and then passed on to you. It can take years just to work that off. Take the Gas Saver, which I mentioned above, it was invented and is now manufactured in the UK.

While solar and wind are a great way to get free energy, the energy often isn't actually free if you think about the cost that went into them in the first place. My blog has a lot more information on the subject if you fancy a read!
