My 2 DC go to a good school (school A) in the next town. It takes about an hour to get there and back (including drop off time) and with a 8.20 start we have to get up fairly early to ensure we get there on time.
We moved to this area 2 years ago and my local school of choice (school B) didn't have room for both my DCs which is why they attend the school they do.
My third DC is due to start school in Sept 2013 which means we need to apply for a place for her later this year. My original local school of choice (school B) will have a place for her if I want one as we fulfil their criteria and the school my DCs currently attend (school A) will probably have a place for her although we don't live in their catchment area.
Whilst making enquiries about school B I have found out they now have space for my older DC.
So a few questions I'm asking myself -
A. Should I transfer my DCs to school B, it's local meaning they will go to secondary school with their friends, their friends will live in the same town we do, it's a good school (but so is school A)?
B. Should I just apply for a place in Sept 2013 at school B for my youngest and have her attend the local school keeping my older 2 at school A until they go to secondary school?
C. Should I apply for a place in the current school (school A) so she can go to school with her siblings but keep the early mornings and longer school run going for a few more years yet?
