Amn't crazy about her books but i think she is a really nice person. Saw her in cosmetic hall of a department store in Dublin having a great old natter with the sales assistant. I hope she is feeling much better.depression is a terrible thing and she has been so open about it.

This thread has cheered me right up I love Marian keyes I think she is an inspiration , there is somethng so comforting about (most) of her books I say most because this charming man although excellent bright dark memories back for me but the way sheportrayed everythng in the book ime was spot on.
I am an aspiring writer (not that you would know by my terrible writing on mn but I can do it properly when I have too haha) and would love to meet her but I think I would be really uncool if I did.

Have always loved helens character and it will be really interesting to see where she goes with her. I love that Marian writes about normal strong women you can identify with I used to read louise bagshawe and I genuinely thought she might me a man writing as a woman the characters were so cliched and her books on the whole are a slap in the face for feminism IMO .

Yay!
I have been waiting years for Helen's installment! (live abroad so sometimes books get here later)

Rachel's Holiday is fantastic - I've re-read it at least 15 times Blush

I loved Anybody out there - and I agree Anna's character changed quite abit but I put it down to growing up and maturing.

Don't like how Mammy Walsh is just becoming farcical though. And I'd love to see how Helen justifies her bitchy side to herself! Wink

I thought that about Louse Bagshawe too Mrswhiskerson, only read one of her books.

I have got Marian Keyes baking book, gorgeous recipes and very funny. Haven't got round to making anything yet though.

Mrswhiskerson · 22/03/2012 14:31

I didn't know she had a cook book out I will have to have a look, I am Reading under the duvet I love how she can write about everyday ordinary things and make them hilarious.
I have read mist of louise bagshawes books in my early twenties and stopped because every story is the same with minor differences and the way she portrays women and the way they In teract with each other is awful like I said if I had not seen a picture of her I would have sworn she was a ( sexist) man.
