Blogger or wordpress?

I am starting a blog, and would like to think it might even make a little money in the future (although I know it will take work and time!).

I read that you can't use adverts on wordpress? Then I read that wordpress is better than blogger??

Can you seasoned bloggers tell me where blogging is done best?

My understanding is that you can make money on Wordpress if you go self-hosted rather than hosted (ie get a domain and purchase web space)

I don't know anything about Blogger except that most people I know who used it have move to self-hosted on WordPress.

Also, it is very unusual to make money from a blog.

It is unlikely you will make money for a while and adsense doesn't really make anything at all but you never know....

I use blogger because it is easy to use for a newbie(ish) like me!

I use wordpress, was using xanga but found it annoying so moved to wordpress. I like it, though it can be difficult to get your head round at first.

I use blogger but a friend moved to wordpress from blogger and finds it much easier. She found it easier to use, you can (if I remember right) import an old blog into a new one if you change your mind after starting with one. Not sure that really is an answer though!

I love Blogger but that's because I've been using it for years now. If I was to start a blog now, I'd be using Wordpress.
