Bloggers Blurb Questions ??

I've only just found this section of Mumsnet & it seems the obvious place to ask my question :)

I've been toying with a Craft & Cookery type blog for a while, sort of set it up, fiddled around with it, taken photos of projects to upload, but not really done that much with it as yet Blush

but I do intend to get my act together at some point soon & wondered how you decide on how to introduce yourself on your profile ??? Confused

Do you big yourself up - sort of CV like - or does that come across too pompous & put people off Confused - I ask because once upon a time I was quite high flying in an arsty crafty type career, so do know my stuff in several areas & having also taught can hopefully probably come up with some half decent original tutorials -

BUT, these days, bar the odd bit of freelance work, I'm probably more SAHM, than WAHM & certainly no high flyer anymore - so when writing up the intro - do you mention any proffessional back ground, in passing - not at all - or basically give it large Confused I did write something up, but my old career seems like a life time away & I sort of felt a bit of a fraud, so I'm genuinely not sure how to play it ??

Also, do food & crafts work togerther in blogs ??, in that its all "making things" - both are very much part of my creative life, so to me do work together - but DO they really ?

TYIA :)

I think a Craft & Cookery type blog sounds great, I would imagine lots of people would be interested in that.

As to what you put in your blurb - well, it's your blog, your rules. You don't even have to have a blurb if you don't want to. And it's not like it's set in stone even once you do one. I change and update mine when ever I feel like it.

The purpose of an 'About' page is to explain a bit more about the person behind the blog, so they tend to be much more personal rather than a CV-style list of achievements. Maybe say a bit about why you wanted to write the blog in the first place? It sounds like your professional experience is relevant. Also it's a good place to give a contact address and say whether or not you are up for PRs contacting you to review things. You can always have a googlemail address that's just for the blog if you don't want to put your own in there.

This is my About page on my regular blog which is basically a running joke for my own amusement. I always assume that no one reads it, so was surprised to see that it was used to introduce me on another site. Serves me right I suppose. This is the About page for my new blog with my daughter which we wrote together and is still a work in progress.
