Ordered stuff from a normal looking UK website, retailer refuses to talk to me and ignoring emails

I ordered some moisturiser from a company called Martyn Maxey 2 weeks ago and still have not received it (delivery info states 1-3 working days)

I have emailed them to ask if it has been despatched - no reply (I did think it might take a bit longer because of Christmas etc)

So this morning I phoned them to ask if they could track it and they said that I need to contact them by email and put the phone down!

What should I do now as they have my money and I have nothing to show for it...

did you pay by credit card - if so contact your issuer and initiate a chargeback

If debit card, contact your bank. Many banks will be able to do a chargeback now also.

What is chargeback? Sorry for my ignorance! I paid by debit card.

perceptionreality · 19/12/2011 11:04

Thanks fergoose. It was only £37 though could they still do it?

It depends who you bank with - but I would have thought they could

Have you emailed the website in the meantime asking for a refund?

perceptionreality · 19/12/2011 11:09

Yes, no reply. I'm starting to think maybe the company is going into administration or something otherwise why wouldn't they speak to me on the phone?

they may be crazy busy with Christmas - but I would speak to your bank now if I were you

perceptionreality · 19/12/2011 11:44

Thanks for your help - I have contacted my bank and they are going to send me a claim form so that they can then try to get the money back.
