Why is my blog suddenly getting hits via Twitter?

It's just freaked me out a little! I don't tweet... and whilst I'm relatively new to all this, isn't it the done thing to tell someone you're tweeting about them - unless it's the BBC or something?

No-one has commented on my most recent post, so I'm hoping I haven't upset anyone (unwittingly)

Will I ever know - or is it a mystery? Is there a way to find out - I use wordpress and all it says is my referral feed is twitter.

Someone may have shared a link on Twitter? I wouldn't normally think of telling someone I had tweeted about them, would generally be along the lines of 'I think this is v cool, take a look', nothing sinister...

Oh ok! thanks

Yes - nothing to worry about at all. In fact, Twitter is great for getting your blog out to a wider audience - I've got a lot of hits to my blog through there. If you're on Twitter, it also enables readers to ask you questions about your blog or recommend it elsewhere. As with Cowgirl, I wouldn't ask permission to discuss another person's blog either - people just do it.

I would recommend Twitter though. I'm @crapteacher - say hello if you decide to join!

Hi BaronessOrczy,

We tweeted about a post of yours yesterday, so that's where the hits are coming from. Here's our tweet:

Take it as a compliment :)

Oh how exciting!! Only just seen that - serves me right for going away for the weekend to an area of no internet access Xmas Grin

Thank you
