Really split

Bit of background...our neighbours are married with 4DCs...2 of the DCs are in different schools as the school didn't have room for children outside the catchment area. They have appealed several times. On their last appeal they were told if they lived in the village they would stand a better chance of a place. So the house goes on the market..against her H wishes....anyway..she told me if he didn't want to move they could split up for 6 months & she could move to the village alone & guarantee her son a place in the school of 'her dreams'!
3 months later...they have 'split up'. Trouble is..the emotion is plausible & her H has moved out. Trouble is...we dot know if it's genuine & not sure if we should be offering support etc. My DH has called his friend & offered support but he is too wondering if it's a scam for the sake of the school.
If it is...tats an awful trick to do to 4DCs this close to Christmas. WWYD...offer support etc or step back? It may be genuine.

Obviously, you can never take splitting up a family lightly. I KNOW i didnt but my husband was abusive. If they have split up properly thats fair enough but if they have done it for the sake of what school their child goes to then that is just sick to put their children through all of that for nothing. I would be supportive, but keep my distance about it and not take sides. If she has already told you that they could split up for 6 months so her sn got a place at the school, then surely she would have told you that this is what they had decided to do?

Hi ellen...that's what I would of thought but she is keeping her distance & is never home. She will pop back each night & turn lights on etc & return the next day. It's only been her DH we have had contact with as she is never home. We have offered support a like you said..you never know. When my DH spoke to he DH he said he had more to tell him about things but didn't get chance to as the kids were about. I find it very sad that if the split is for this school place then the kids are without their dad all week! She is a very selfish person but this would be awful.

Step well back and be friendly to both if you should meet. But step back.

I would keep well out of it

I am definitely keeping my distance...it's not my place to get involved. I'll be polite to both.
