Falling asleep at the table

DH went out last night. During dinner tonight he was nodding off at the table. DS who is 16 months was in his highchair eating his spaghetti. I asked DH to go to bed as he was lowering the tone. DH thinks it is perfectly reasonable to snooze at the table or on the sofa around people in his own home but says he follow this wisdom of mumsnet.

So is it rude to nod off in midst of family life or AIBU for saying it lowers the tone?

i actually snorted at lowering the tone.

um, i agree that if he is that tired he should just go to bed rather than falling asleep at the table.
but it's hardly the end of the world

My DH can fall asleep anywhere, literally anywhere.
It used to be embarrassing, but I rarely even notice if we're at home. He works cruelly long hours and is often exhausted. He successfu;ly catnaps - I can't sleep during the day at all, makes me feel dreadful, but it seems to re-energise him. If he goes to bed he's useless and out for hours, but 20 mins kip on the sofa works a treat.
I draw the line at falling asleep when out though!
He is apparently known as "Coma in a Korma" from a memorable dad's night out Blush
Does that help Grin

falling asleep on the sofa - ok, happens all the time in this house
falling asleep at the dinner table - really? wow. he really ought to be able to stay awake long enough to eat a meal.

My father falls asleep at the table whenever we have a large meal and wine. We throw corks at his head. We find it funny but my mother gets annoyed!!
