"Disney Party", and we're not...

My DC (19 months) has been invited to a party. But, eeuuw, Disney-themed fancy dress. We're really not into marketing-led children's entertainment, and Disney is the worst of the lot, IMO.

We're perfectly OK with him going, but loathe to dress him in Disney. Thought about dressing him in this kicky Dr Who outfit (incl fez) we already have, partly because (1) we have it already and why not save some sanity and (2) to exercise my "droit de wiseass".

More recently, thought about maybe something from Peter Pan (even the great and powerful Disney had to pay royalty to GtOrmond St Hosp!).

But any other ideas?

I'm afraid you can't escape Disney.

I would just do Peter Pan and be done with it. Or Robin Hood - so many stories have been hijacked by Uncle Walt that you can make lots of things fit.

IME a lot of young children (including mine, for some unknown reason) think that Dr Who is a Disney character, so I don't think the target audience would necessarily get your point.

Actually, that's an argument for the Dr Who - the other kids wouldn't take the mick out of mine, but the parents might go Hmmm. And I'd get to bask in the wiseass glow...

Thought about Shrek and his cronies, btw. I like their attitude even if Dreamworks is part of the Disney brothel stable.
