Blog Hops and Wordpress.com

Whilst I wait for the Mumsnet verdict on my blog (fingers crossed, I am quite new at this), I've been working on getting more followers, mostly by stalking a great lot of you wonderful MNetters.

I hear you can join a blog hop to do this, but it seems they don't work so well on Wordpress.com because you can't use the code. Can I still join a blog hop somehow, and also, what might it look like? If I could see one in action using wordpress.com, that would really help.

Salt&Caramel does bloghops from wordpress. I do them from Blogger where they work really easily. The people you need to speak to are MmeLindor and I think Tee2072 should be able to help too.

The blogging world is very small...

I added myself (shamelessly) on to some other Blog Hops, but have no idea how to add one to my site for others to 'hop' on there.

You absolutely can insert code into a WP.com blog.

On your post page on the upper right corner of the input area are two tabs. One says 'Visual, one says 'HTML'. Click onto the HTML tab and you can put all the code you want right there.

Ooooh, thanks Tee2072, I shall try this very soon; I was very puzzled about the message that comes up when you go to get the code, which sounds a bit lame: 'Free blogs at Wordpress.com do not allow javascript, period. This script will not work. You just need to put a link to the blog hosting the blog hop, or to the page that contains the list. Go to that page, and get the link.'

Yeah, you can't do java, but there are plenty of blog hopping sites that don't use java.

I can't think of the one MMeL uses, but I am positive it has no java!

MmeL uses Linkytools (I think that's the name)
