I'm sure you used to be able to, but can't work out how to now.

Thanks

Depends on their settings, some people set it so they can't receive them- mine is ATM as I have ahd crap from people I know in RL, defriended them but wanted more safety IYKWIM.

Yes, you still can. Click on their name and a 'Message' box appears on top right hand corner

lubeybooby · 20/11/2011 15:48

You can if they allow it. They might have their settings so only people who are already freinds can message.

Ponders · 20/11/2011 15:56

your message might go into their Other box, in which case it won't be flagged & they probably won't see it (I have no restrictions on incoming but have still had messages from non-friends put there)

Conundrumish · 20/11/2011 15:58

Said - do you mean click on their name when you have their page up? I can't seem to do that.

Lubey/Peachy - do you do that through messages? When I put their name in the 'to' box in messages, it goes away again when I press return.

when you have their page up there should be a clickable 'message' box at top R?

Conundrumish · 20/11/2011 16:18

No, there isn't one Ponders. Maybe they have blocked messages from non-friends.

oh, maybe - there are so many tweaks to privacy Confused

what does the page say? were you able to find them by an ordinary name search, or only via friend-of-friend? some people can't be found by open search at all & they're the ones I'd expect to have messages blocked too.

Conundrumish · 20/11/2011 16:53

through open search, though they used to be friend of a friend.

oh dear Sad

you're right then, they must have set "everyone" for finding profile, but for "receive messages" either friends only or friends of friends (which is perverse)
