Do i leave the dcs with my mother?

Last year me and dh took our first holiday away together for a week. It was so amazing that we wanted to do it again this winter.
Last time ds1 and ds2 went to the ILs and dd (15) stayed in our house with my mother.
She said that she would do it again and would have 2 but couldnt cope with 3. Our other issues are that ILs dont really seem approachable about it this year.
My main issue was leaving the two boys with my mother who is useless with them most of the time, shes not very interested and likes to stay in bed in the morning, watch tv when she wants etc.

However she has just sent me a message saying that her and my aunty would like to come and look after all 3 dcs together. My auntie is the most sensible person i know, used to be a brownie leader, great with kids, loves cooking, energetic, up early etc.

So do i put aside my reservations about my mother because my auntie will be here as well, so that dh and i can have a break?

Book the flights - what the hell are you waiting for woman??

sounds fine, even if your mum does have a lie-in, your auntie sounds more than capable of looking after the 3 dc's

Thanks, id leave them with my auntie no probs, but would sonner leave them with Hannibal Lector than alone with my mother for any length of time.
Dont get me wrong, its not like i think they'll be in danger, but shes just a bit distracted (particularly during holby city or deal or no deal).

Well that's good.

Have you spoken directly to your Auntie?

mosschops30 · 03/11/2011 10:03

No, but apparently its all on.

They will come down the night before, stay in a hotel, then come here in the morning to have the dcs for the week, then go back to hotelfor the weekend when we ome back.

Apparently my auntie is looking firward to spoiling them!!
