What do you think?
Category's would be something like:
Most helpful blogger/blog
Best newcomer
Best food
What do you think?
Awards could be based on something like this:

Most helpful blog/er

Best parenting advice
Best craft
Best sn
Best written
Best photography blog

Oh, good idea.

With prizewinners being flown to London to meet the MN team and Garry Barlow.

butterflyexperience · 31/10/2011 07:14

Mmelindor Grin I like your thinking!

Think nominations should be put across by mn's so it be a true reflection of what mn's are into.
So no fakey celeb blogs please!

MmeLindor. · 31/10/2011 07:19

Yes. Very good idea. And nominations by not just the bloggers network users, but the whole of MN. It would help make the BN more known within MN.

We could have a prize for the Least Mummyblogger Blogger

:o

MmeGuillotine · 31/10/2011 08:52

Can you make up a category that I could be nominated for please? I've never been nominated for an award and want to know what it's like. :)

Although, imagine if I was the only blog in said category and STILL didn't win?! ;)

FlamingoBingo · 31/10/2011 10:36

Love this idea!

MmeG can have: blog with the most sexy man pictures on it Wink

MmeGuillotine · 31/10/2011 10:39

On the other hand, if Mumsnet did announce that they are giving out awards, we'd be assailed by an incoming army of competitive mummy bloggers within seconds. ;)

MmeLindor. · 31/10/2011 10:44

We could have Best Historical Interest Blog - both MmeG and MsGeneolgist could have a crack at that.

And Best Swiss Blog so that I am the only nominee

butterflyexperience · 31/10/2011 13:17

But to help stop the aimless competitvness and to show recognition to blogs we actually like, how about we nominate who goes in for the category?

And the only prize being a shiney badge to dispaly on your blog for: MN best Mum Blog 2011?
Made my MNHQ of course.

And the nominations and votes would be open to all of MN, and to be announced and awarded each December?

So great MNHQ, can we, can we, please please pleasssseeeeee?

PetiteRaleuse · 31/10/2011 14:25

I think it's a great idea.

MmeLindor. · 31/10/2011 14:48

I do think that if we are doing a competition, it should be an open one. Otherwise it is just a we-love-each-other from the BN threads.

So how about a thread on the main section, or in competitions maybe, where anyone can nominate a blog as long as it is a MNBN blog. Then MN can see if there is a consensus and do a vote - similar to the way that the namechange comp is done.

And if we don't get voted for, then c'est la vie we can all sulk together and bugger off to Britmums saying that MN is full of beeeeatches

MmeLindor. · 31/10/2011 14:49

Oh, and anyone who posts, "I don't see the point of blogs, who wants to know the boring minutiae of your life" gets BANNED

PetiteRaleuse · 31/10/2011 14:58

So do you think there should be categories?

FlamingoBingo · 31/10/2011 16:05

Hahahah MmeLindor - I quite like the idea of a 'we-love-each-other-from-the-BN-threads' competition Grin

What about we put a ban on bloggers touting for votes - that's a bit issue with competitions, isn't it, and kind of negates them completely.

Or maybe there could be a button next to the blogger's entry on the network thingy, and MN could say, 'if you like the blog when you've read it, come back and click on the button' then tally the votes...?

Altho like the idea of categories too.

#talkingcrap

MmeLindor. · 31/10/2011 16:17

Yes, categories would be good, I think. Better to showcase the variety of blogs on the MNBN.

overmydeadbody · 31/10/2011 16:53

I love this idea, really good!

And categories is a must I tihnk, so it's not just loads of mummy bloggers and celebrity bloggers. Real blogs by real people.

overmydeadbody · 31/10/2011 16:53

and agree with mmelindor, those people who don't 'get' blogs can be banned.

FroOOOOOtshoOOOOOOts · 31/10/2011 16:55

With prizewinners being flown to London to meet the MN team and Garry Barlow

Is he the new Tech?

AitchTwoOh · 31/10/2011 16:56

what about an 'actually someone from MN rather than just some weirdy political/journalistic johnny-come-lately' award? Grin

CaptainNancy · 31/10/2011 16:58

ONLY if those who vote are not part of the bloggers network, just MNers.

FlamingoBingo · 31/10/2011 17:08

THink that's already been said, CaptainNancy

PetiteRaleuse · 31/10/2011 17:20

So who nominates? Or would MNHQ put ut into categories and nominate all of us and then people from outside BN vote in each category?

ElinorMumsnetBloggers · 31/10/2011 17:31

@butterflyexperience

Oh yes indeedy.... great minds and all that. We're very keen on this idea and will hatch a plot as soon as we've figured out how many there are of you now! Confused We'll be in touch as soon as we're ready to start handing out the little gold men - there are brilliant ideas on this thread, and we'll want em all. Thanks for starting the conversation.

FlamingoBingo · 31/10/2011 17:31

I reckon what you said, Petite.

They could do heats.

PetiteRaleuse · 31/10/2011 17:39

Yay, they agree!

Ooh heats could be fun.

But wouldn't it put a lot of pressure on us to perform so to speak - and who's going to trawl through every post we have written? So would the voting be based on one post or a general thing?
