Hello! I'm shaking with nerves here as this is the first time I've created a new thread on Mumsnet and this is a terrifying and rather momentous occasion. What if I do it wrong?!

Anyway, here's the inaugural post and it is, I think, a GOOD one:

A guest post about actors looking hot in Roman armour.

You're welcome. ;)

And no, I don't think it is too much work but I would guess that people may not be as interested in publicising other people's blogs as they are their own. Let me know if the linky gets up and running again and I will join tomorrow morning :)

aliciajduffy.blogspot.com/2011/11/just-because.html

Just a quick one, with an bit of the letter the Sunderland Council sent me. Just because.

SixthSenseofEntitlement · 05/11/2011 15:28

Oops. Link

Bexxia · 05/11/2011 16:22

That sounds like exactly the sort of letter one might expect from the council lol.

Clearly someone was very bored in the office that day....

MmeLindor. · 05/11/2011 16:32

Natwest's online banking problems interested me today. You know the old adage, "If a tree falls in a forest and no one hears it fall, would it make a sound?".

Bexxia · 05/11/2011 17:22

I've just blogged about the new Omlet Qute, which I would really love but isn't really an option seeing as we're skint right now lol.

MmeLindor. · 05/11/2011 17:50

Even the cute Qute could not persuade me to have rodents in my living room

JoanneMallon · 05/11/2011 17:55

I've just reviewed the new Disney Universe Wii game . I know reviews aren't everyone's cup of tea, but this one's been hyped a lot so I thought people would be interested in what it's actually like to play.

And for those who asked about the awards, it was the Mumsnet Family Friendly Awards for business. As a journalist I seem to be at the end of a very long list at MNHQ, so if they have a big event where they need to fill the room and the A, B and C list can't make it, I get invited.

Bexxia · 05/11/2011 18:43

MmeLindor - they aren't so bad, though I don't miss the sound of them scrabbling around and spinning in their wheel whilst I'm trying to sit quietly.

PetiteRaleuse · 05/11/2011 18:53

I used to have pet mice as a teen.

SouthernandCross · 05/11/2011 19:03

I like the look of the Qute but I'm not sure that it's big enough for a Hammy? The cages we've been recommended are much bigger than that!
The Disney Universe game has gone on the Xmas list.
Here's my post about trying to make life 'fair' for your kids.

Bexxia · 05/11/2011 19:17

SouthernandCross - I'm a little concerned about that too, which is why I'm keeping an eye out for the rumoured larger version.

ScatCatShoo · 06/11/2011 01:06

Hi guys, is anyone else getting hits from suspect sites? I suddenly had a huge number of hits from some random webpages, and when I click on them, nothing. Statcounter isn't registering them, but Google Stats is. Plus something from a site called GoogleCorrection.

Weirded out a bit.

Is this affecting any of you?

MmeLindor. · 06/11/2011 08:54

I'm getting more hits but not suspiciously more. Most from people googling natwest.

PetiteRaleuse · 06/11/2011 08:59

ScatCat I mentioned above yesterday I got 500 within a couple of minutes from various bizarre sites, and have had a few from GoogleCorrection too. I think some of them do it to get you to click on the link and hen you do you realise it's a service that if you pay them they'll get you loads of hits Hmm I hardly see the point in that but anyway...

Maybe they're working their way through the blogger sites at the mo which is why Grace is noticing it too but not MmeL

MmeLindor. · 06/11/2011 17:26

Made Salt&Caramel Tear and Share Bread today. It was rather delicious

ScatCatShoo · 06/11/2011 18:21

Petite, just checked the whole thread today. Hmmm, that's really interesting. I am wondering if its just Mumsnet bloggers who are being targeted, because I don't think any of my other blogging mates, who are not MN bloggers are targets.

Curiouser and curiouser.

When I clicked back on the referring links, they didn't have anything on them, and I think that may be because I have adblocker plus, and its blocking whatever's on those sites.

I think I am going to report this to Google.

MmeLindor. · 06/11/2011 19:27

I haven't had any strange hits, that I can see. Will have a look on google analytics but nothing looks odd on WP stats

DidYouPackThePassport · 09/11/2011 01:41

Ever wondered what mundane things like supermarkets are like in another country, how they compare, what's popular, how they differ? Well, this post's for you! Find out how I got used to doing "the big shop" here in Canada ... wp.me/p1J9Lk-xE

FlamingoBingo · 09/11/2011 08:39

I haven't had any strange hits either. Lots of spam, though, but that's been going up steadily since I started so not really surprised about that.

MmeL - we tried making that once and it was a total failure! Will try it again some time.

Today I've written about how I think we should be sharing information with parents and why - a teensy bit ranty!
