To not get the fuss about Emma Watson?

Another article today about her being some 'retro beauty' in her latest film. I just don't geddit. I think she is perfectly nice looking in that plummy sort of girl next door way and has good bone structure, and she seems perfectly lovely and intelligent and grounded and all of those things, but a great beauty? Really?

And, yes, I also know how it is none of my business whatsoever and there are much more important things going on in the world, but I am in need of some distraction from the darker elements of life today.

So, AIBU? Come and tell me! Come and tell me that I am and that I'm also a shallow jellus cah so I can say I'm not and accuse you of being kleeky bullies and flounce dramatically. I could do with a good flounce.

TheFeministsZombieBride · 27/10/2011 14:23

YABU I think she's lovely, but then I wanted to be her as Hermonie so I'm probably biased.

Balsam · 27/10/2011 14:23

I think she is unusually beautiful. Sorry! You are old and jealous Grin

aldiwhore · 27/10/2011 14:26

I think she has a classic beauty about her so YAB(alittle)U. BUT beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

I think she's considerably more naturally beautiful than a lot of other people classed as beautiful!

The people I consider really unusually beautiful are usually quite unusual, hence I use the term 'classic'.

wellthatsdoneit · 27/10/2011 14:32

She's so not unusually beautiful! You're all wrong! She's the opposite of that - quite nice looking in an ordinary sort of way, bordering on a bit plain aksherly. IANBU!

OP posts:
PandorasSocks · 27/10/2011 14:33

I think she is beautiful too.

This makes up for her lack of acting talent.

wellthatsdoneit · 27/10/2011 14:42

I've not seen any of the HP films so can't comment on that. But you're wrong about her being 'beautiful' though, I know that!

If I had the money and grooming and airbrushing that she has I reckon I could scrub up as well as her.

Well once maybe. Before I got old, and stodgy and jowly and before the bitterness set in and took hold.

Put a picture on my profile you say? I shall do no such thing!

mholdall · 27/10/2011 14:45

Bonny lass but not in the same league as somebody like Pippa.

wellthatsdoneit · 27/10/2011 14:56

No,no, you're wrong too mholdall. EW better looking than the middleton sisters, who look old and raddled before their time (Kate more so than pippa admittedly), whereas EW does at least look dewy and fresh faced. Great figures though - like thoroughbred racehorses.

OP posts:
wellthatsdoneit · 27/10/2011 14:58

Here's another one for you.

Liz Hurley -> Damon Albarn in a wig. Discuss.

OP posts:
LeNameChange · 27/10/2011 14:58

Totally with you, and ditto Keira Knightley - who in my view can't act, and looks like a horse. A skinny horse.

DoesNotGiveAFig · 27/10/2011 14:58

Hahaha they ARE like racehorses I love it! I too believe Emma Watson to be a beauty, you are old and well jealous of her wonderous looks.

She can't act very well though.

DoesNotGiveAFig · 27/10/2011 14:59

Ew I hate Keira, she does the whole sticking her bottom jaw out like a bulldog and she can't act and she's too thin

LeNameChange · 27/10/2011 15:02

Liz Hurley? Don't get me started. Mind you, at least I got to laugh myself into a frenzy when I found out that she's marrying serial-womaniser Shane Warne.... (not at all old and bitter me, no no no).

wellthatsdoneit · 27/10/2011 15:05

Yes! A lantern jawed skinny horse! . At last someone with some sense on this thread.

Seriously, has anyone ever actually seen Liz Hurley and Damon albarn in the same room before? Well? Have they?

The evidence, my friends, is conclusive.

shifts busom and looks satisfied

OP posts:
FantasticVoyage · 27/10/2011 15:27

This is a 'Daily Mail' thing, isn't it? They wank themselves into a frenzy over her.

Helltotheno · 27/10/2011 15:42

Down to a woman, none of em is anything special without makeup (am only guessing that in the case of the Middletons). Of all mentioned above, I'd rate Knightley highest lookswise, but that's cancelled out by her snippy persona.

We'd all look like stunnahs if we had the number of groomers they all have!

deliciousdevilwoman · 27/10/2011 15:46

OP-UANBU. I don't get the appeal of that child/woman thang. Keira Knightly is also a case in point. She looked like she was playing "dress up" in her mother's clothes in the Chanel advert, in my not-so-humble opinion!

colken · 27/10/2011 15:49

I've looked her up on the internet, never having heard of her. Beautiful?? Well, beauty is in the eye of the beholder! Not in my eye, I'm afraid.

NoOnesGoingToEatYourEyes · 27/10/2011 15:52

EW - is beautiful in a classic way and I am so jealous I might as well paint myself green and have done with it
KK - almost as beautiful but never seems very nice.
KM - is more beautiful than Pippa and the sooner people realise it the better.
PM - is quite nice but it won't last, she's got that weird jaw and is going to be relying on those photo's of her wedding backside for years to come in the not so distant future.
LH - is Damon Albarn in a wig, the OP speaks the truth.
SW - is really David Van Day and nothing more needs to be said.

wellthatsdoneit · 27/10/2011 16:18

I was going to mention jocelyn wildenstein alongside Shane warne , but David van day is much more apt, and I salute you on that observation.

I have always sensed something of the 'meat and two veg' about Liz. If, before it's demise, the news of the world had exposed evidence of her procedure from years gone by, I would not have been entirely surprised. I don't know if it's her deep voice, or square jaw, or what, but although she has all the trappings and ticks all the boxes on paper, there is something inherently less than feminine about her.

You're wrong about EW though. WRONG I say!

OP posts:
wellthatsdoneit · 27/10/2011 16:32

Ooh, I've been moved.

Interesting.

OP posts:
Chandon · 27/10/2011 16:35

I think she looks unremarkable, apart from being young and skinny.

wellthatsdoneit · 27/10/2011 19:26

Yes, unremarkable is a good way to describe her, although I don't think she is super skinny in the way many actresses are and that coupled with her grounded attitude and intelligence makes her an unusual and good role model in that industry.

I'd like to add tess daly to my 'Ladyboy??' category and have cat deely hovering around the edges of it.

OP posts:
NoOnesGoingToEatYourEyes · 27/10/2011 21:22

I think if you were able to push all of them together to make one other person you would get Sarah Jessica Parker out of them.

oohlaalaa · 28/10/2011 09:49

I think she's very pretty, but not beautiful.
