If you join the Mumsnet blogging network, do people automatically assume yours is a parenting blog?

I know that now all the mumsnets blogs are about parenting, but, obviously, a lot are. And if yours isn't, I wondered if you felt people sometimes found it confusing that you have a mumsnet bloggers logo on your site?

I don't think it confuses my readers, they know I am a mum because I talk about my DS even though it isn't a parenting blog. I don't tihnk it puts anyone off anyway.

I doubt it. Mind you, whenever I end up in the top ten of a certain parenting blog list that will remain nameless, a link to my blog appears on Bounty, which probably confuses the hell out of people on there who click expecting potty training tips and instead get posts about the Medici and Edwardian fashion. ;)

yes, sorry, wasn't suggesting it would put anyone off! Just that if you're trying to build up a profile of what you're about it perhaps puts people off the scent a bit. Or just that they wouldn't really know why you were part of the Mumsnet network if you're not writing about your DC, or just mentioning them in passing.

Anyway, think you've both answered my question, thank you, I'm obviously just fretting for nothing. I guess the next step is to see if they'll have me.

My blog posts are quite often about parenting and my daughter's photo is in the masthead and in a sidebar too, but I don't write only about parenting - and think it's good to have mixed blogs like that on here to show that you can be lots of other things at the same time as being a parent (we multi-tasking women, eh?!)

I doubt it. I have the Mumsnet logo fairly prominent on my blog, but any visitor will know immediately that mine is a food blog. The title is sorta the giveway :)

I have a very few parenting posts on mine and some people have been following me since well before I became a parent. I gues some people who haven't looked at the network will assume that we are all mummybloggers but anyone who has spent five minutes going through the blogs even on the first page will realise there is so much more to it than that.

I don't know if would put people off. I guess people who aren't interested in parenting blogs might not decide to go looking in the MN Bloggers Forum for blogs but I don't think the badge on the site will have any effect at all. In fact I'd go as far as to say that most people don't notice the badges.
