Kicking off the new week with a plea to read and sign the petition from Save The Children

Don't Turn Away

OP posts:
FrauLindor · 23/09/2011 11:23

No, that is an old post.

Don't worry, it did not wind me up. I just get frustrated, at the fact that the UN spends Godknowshowmuchmoney to find these things out and then the governments don't ensure that the information gets to the people who need to know this - the doctors, midwives, nurses and HVs.

Angel786 · 23/09/2011 11:24

Oh didn't realise there were so many risks with formula. Thanks Frau and Petite

PetiteRaleuse · 23/09/2011 11:28

Oh didn't see that. Phew.

Angel I suggest you go and lurk on the feeding forums if you want to see the debate in its full and unleashed glory...

PetiteRaleuse · 23/09/2011 11:32

The French have just relaxed their guidelines on sterilising bottles etc too. I wonder what the current position is in the UK on that.

FlamingoBingo · 23/09/2011 11:41

Petite - you are singing from the same hymn sheet I am! A great post that I'd like to link to from my links post on Sunday if you don't mind :) Will comment on the post when I publish it

I've done another parent interview, which was fantastic, but was my first video record so having a few teething problems in that respect. Hope to iron them out before I do the next interview with author, Julie Cohen - I'm recording it on Monday!

Is anyone here interested in being interviewed? You need to have children a little older than one of my 'categories': 0-2y, 2-8y and 8-12y

PetiteRaleuse · 23/09/2011 11:45

No probs Flamingo, thank you

FlamingoBingo · 23/09/2011 11:45

MmeLindor - I'm also going to link to yours as well - it's fantastic!

queenmaeve · 23/09/2011 13:41

I have been the world's worst blogger recently. Mine is mostly meant to be crafts but I haven't made much recently. I will have to get busy this weekend.
Here is my wee blog hop thing again for this weekend if anyones interested weekend wonders

FrauLindor · 23/09/2011 14:41

Queenmaeve
Am I just not seeing the linky thing? Or can you not do it at all?

FrauLindor · 23/09/2011 17:07

Smoking in Switzerland

What age would you guess is the minimum age for buying cigarettes in Geneva?

Children Bracelets Giveaway

angie80uk · 23/09/2011 17:50

Hi, I'm new to the board, didn't even know we can speak to each other here!

FrauLindor · 23/09/2011 19:06

Hi Angie,
welcome to MN. Love the look of that cake, the chestnut one.

Gosh, the blog is popular today. Who knew that smoking was such an interesting topic?

FrauLindor · 23/09/2011 19:06

oops, FB. Just noticed your post. That is great, glad that you like my formula post.

PetiteRaleuse · 23/09/2011 19:56

It is Frau but does the age make that much of a difference or is that smoking in the UK is becoming taboo, whereas maybe, I don't know, but where you are they might just be more relaxed abou tit. I dunno. I smoked my first ciggie at 10, in England. Then I started again when i was 18 when I moved to France.

And have been an on off smoker ever since.

DillyTante · 23/09/2011 21:05

Hi all

It's interesting reading your parenting posts. I'm surprised at myself that I'm not tempted to write more on parenting myself on my blog. I do have fairly strong ideas about how I want to raise my children, and am happy to discuss them on here, but I'm not really tempted to talk about them on my blog. Not sure why.

I've just yarn bombed again!

FrauLindor · 23/09/2011 21:14

Not sure, Petite, but I do think that there is difference between having to persuade an older friend to go to the shop to buy cigarettes, and being able to get some from the machine.

DillyTante · 23/09/2011 22:01

I've done it! I've joined the 21st Century Twitter!

breadfortheboys · 23/09/2011 22:13

Love it Dilly and it was you're raffle prize that gave me the idea for advertising my blog with biscuits Smile, thank you!

FrauLindor · 23/09/2011 22:17

Hurrah, Dilly. Are you following me?

DillyTante · 23/09/2011 22:21

I am Frau. Not quite sure what to do with it though!

That's great Bread, glad I can be inspirational! Have you blogged your biscuits?

breadfortheboys · 23/09/2011 22:24

Haven't done them yet but I'm planning to bake some biscuits for our local community cafe and will put a sticker on with my blog address this time.

breadfortheboys · 23/09/2011 22:24

Just noticed my you're instead of your! Oh dear!

angie80uk · 23/09/2011 23:11

Hi Frau,

Thanks! Shame that I can't find time to bake anymore, 2 children is so demanding!

I don't think its just Switzerland, have you seen the news about a 2 years old in China smoking a pack per day?! Not quite sure whether kids can buy cigs there though. Wouldn't make much difference if parents think its ok to let their tods to smoke a pack a day!

I've joint Twitter as well but have no idea what to do with it! Was hoping to advertise my blog with a giveaway instead but again, no where to advertise that unless people are already reading my blog!

FlamingoBingo · 23/09/2011 23:18

Dilly & Angie - buy Tweetright by Nicola Morgan, or read the big Twitter thread that was on here a few weeks ago.

You need to just jump in and start replying to ppl's tweets who you're following - treat it like a big party where you chat to the person standing next to you.

don't just tweet about your blog - you need to use social media socially otherwise it gets annoying and people won't follow you or will unfollow you!

And ask questions Smile Quite a few of us on here are prolific Twitter users myself (@clarekirkp) and Mmelindor off the top of my head - oh, and Tee as well! And probably others too.
