Well, I guess its technically still Saturday here in Canada, but I am operating on UK time Wink

Kicking off this week with my chilled cherry lemonade (vodka optional :))

I really like it when I make, photograph, write about and post the recipe all in the same day. Doesn't happen very often though, today is an exception!

Looking forward to seeing what you guys are coming up with for this week.

I can't comment on some blogs either, stupid iPad. My other thread about comments wasn't meant as a very unsubtle plea for more! More of a chat about should I care if people comment or not? Does it really mean anything about the blog? Suppose I just like the feeling of 'yay, someone thinks I'm vaguely interesting!' should get out more Grin

My latest post is a collection of links, I was tagged as part of a meme, and decided to do it for the first time. Enjoyed it quite a bit actually, as its interesting to go back and look at what you've done. I am actually quite shocked that its coming up to three years with my blog, never really thought about that before.

I like that butterfly-reminds me of the four am thing when everything is utterly terrifying and overwhelming.

cyberfairy I LOVE your blog and have done for a while. You write beautifully about my home area (I grew up in north Lancashire and rarely get back there).

When I feel homesick your blog is where I go first.

Thankyou both of you-and no I don't market my blog much-I am lazy but still want the world! It is just disheartening when I have struggled to write something with baby lunging at keyboard etc etc then to get no comments and five hits in a day (one of those being someone googling 'fancy a fuck?) (!!??) I enjoy it though and that is the main thing I guess. Need an outlet and excuse not to tidy up...

Don't be disheartened. Your writing is wonderfully evocative.

I think at some point bloggers have to decide if they want to spend a lot of time getting the blog out there or are happy to have just a few readers. The more successful blogs, (if you measure success by stats) are ones where the writers put a lot of effort into social media imo.

The days of writing a blog and suddenly it having 10000s of readers are sadly past - unless you happen to be mentioned in a newspaper article, or a well-known person eg. tweets about your blog.

Some days I have several hundred hits, some days just 20 or 30, depending on what I have written about and if I do a lot of tweeting, marketing it.

Being a member of BN on MN has helped though, as it is done for me.

Cyberfairy - don't worry about comments. It's often only fellow bloggers who comment anyway. If you're not marketing your blog, it can take a very long time to build up readership - it doesn't mean your blog isn't any good (because it is - I love it!), it just means people aren't aware of , or of why they should read it IYSWIM...
