Hindu wedding etiquette

Have been invited to a Hindu wedding reception, and the 'Ladies Sangeet' that takes place one week before. I don't know the couple, only one of their parents. Should I give a gift? what kind? What is the Ladies Sangeet?

Will do my own research, but would be grateful if anyone has relevant experience to recount.

At the ladies part of a muslim wedding, your presence is very much the gift, although you would usually also bring some money in an envelope for the couple. You are supposed to wear your very best clothes and truly celerate in style....

Sorry - that probably doesn't help much!!

Hi, the sangeet is like a singing ceremony with a bit of dancing someti es too. One gift for the wedding is fine, although you may want to take a fiver to wave over the bride's head to extract bad luck (I know sounds odd, more of a tradition than religious).
