New blog - Mums advice needed!

Hey! I started a blog a while ago, about anything and everything in order to find what I enjoy blogging about. It quickly became apparent that almost all of my posts were about baby/kids fashion, toys, baby names, gifts, decor etc. All things cute and wonderful and awesome to do with little people! So I decided to change my blog to being exclusively a kid & baby blog.

I really, really enjoy it so far, and I am constantly brimming with post idea's and finding inspiration online as I stumble across awesome clothes or gifts etc. But I have no kids of my own (I am only 21!) so I would love some idea's from you Mum's to see exactly what you would like to see on a blog like this.

At the moment I am not limiting it to anywhere geographically - a lot of my posts have been about about items available in America, some Australian and some UK only. Will I be limiting myself by secluding certain people from actually being able to purchase some of the products I post about? Or is that okay, since a lot of people just like reading or getting inspiration etc?

Any tips would be welcome and I would be grateful for your opinions.

Your blog seems to be one long advert though I may have missed the point.

Too many exclamation marks. Tone them down. Also, learn how to use apostrophes. Not massive things but will put quite a few people off.

Other than that, be aware some parents won't take very kindly to being recommended products by someone who doesn't actually have any experience with children. The prices of stuff for example - it's nice to look at all this cute stuff, but no way would I pay that much for something that's going to be wrecked and/or grown out of pretty quickly. The "affordable Friday" is an okay idea, but I'd try to keep more of a mix rather than having the affordable stuff as a one off. For a guide, I'm on a low income and I never spend more than £4 on a t-shirt or £8 on a pair of trousers or a cardigan/jumper, unless they are really special (and never much more than that, TBH, unless perhaps it was for a really special occasion, like a family wedding.) You can find loads of cheap but nice things by trawling the high street shop websites, Next, M&S, Mothercare, H&M (and whatever equivalent shops in the US and Australia - bonus points if they have branches in more than one) and it would be nice to have some interesting, brightly coloured or unusual things featured from these kinds of shops.

Some nice things on the site but it's coming over as a bit over-excited, gushy and a sales pitch. Only £35! Just give the price - we will decide if it's "only"...

Also personally I hate things being described as awesome.

Not interested in things abroad in foreign currency.

And maybe a bit of a grammar check ( I know this is a contentious subject on MN) but if you are talking about "mums" plural, you don't need an apostrophe, for example.

(You don't mean secluding people...)

Oh yes and agree I found the gushing and the "Look what WE found" irritating, especially when you've made it clear the blog is your own personal opinions rather than having some kind of team. But I assumed that was some kind of language used in magazines etc which I don't read. "Awesome" is very American so if you're writing for an international audience it could be excused, I think.

Don't make your blog invitation only... its the best way to put off people. I will never ever ask for an invitation to read a blog, I'll just toodle along until I find another.
