I really can't be doing with all the chatter about babies and feeds and whether Junior is developing normally!

I've DONE all that.

Isn't there some forum on this site for middle-age people? People who are out of the young children scene and just need to communicate on a level that doesn't involve anxiety over worries about feeding, schools etc.....? etc.....?

There's Gransnet. And plenty of topics that have nothing to do with babies. You just seem to have stumbled onto Bloggers!

If you click up there ^ where it says Mumsnet Talk you'll see the whole topic list. There are teenager etc topics as well.

I'm nearly 52. I joined here in 2006, when my DC were 12 and 15 - there are plenty of topics on here that aren't about babies!

Gransnet is worth a look, but (IME) is just too old for me. And I'm not a gran anyway.

Explore the site before you write it off. Have a look at Mumsnet Classics if you want a really good laugh - or just hang around in Chat for a while.

Megfox. There are loads of topics on MN that don't involve 'chatter' about babies etc. Even mums (well parents actually - yes, we have some guys here too ) of small children want to have a natter about all sorts of other things.

And there are loads of MNers who are around your age - if not older, many of whom have adult children and even grandchildren. We...erm...middle aged people don't need a middle aged forum, we can just join in any conversation.

If you search for 'All Topics By Category', there's an A-Z list of everything. How about Adult Fiction, Adult Non-Fiction, Book Of The Month, Telly Addicts, Weather, The Wine Club, Gardening? Honestly the options are endless.

As BIWI said, hang about in _Chat for a while (it's right at the bottom of the A-Z list) and Am I Being Unreasonable (AIBU) - it can get a bit 'heated' in AIBU sometimes, but you'll get used to it.

There's masses of grown-up fun to be had here with many, many lovely MNers - they're kind, funny, warm hearted, helpful, irreverent, sometimes smutty, sometimes 'shirty', but it's great.

Beware - it's addictive! And never take a drink of or while you're reading a funny thread

Hi there, I'm a bit late joining in with this one, but I wondered if perhaps there could be an "Empty Nest" section, for those of us who are still very much mums but whose children have flown the nest? I remember all the daily worries and problems of bringing up little children so clearly (and how I would have loved a site like this to visit then!) but when they leave they
take a big part of you with them... and that brings its own problems.

Writing a novel and starting a blog have been two of the ways I have 'found' myself again. I'd love to know what other empty-nesters are doing to fill the spaces in their lives :) Jane Gray

I'm not sure that Megfox is an 'empty nester', as such (I think she still has one adult DS living at home), I think she just wants to have 'chats' that don't involve young children and associated stuff

I just think there's a bit of a 'gap in the market' for mums whose children aren't living at home but who don't fall into the Gransnet category. Anyone out there feel the same?
