Want your opinion on her and her blog. My thoughts about it are on another thread..www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/1249591-cherry-menlove

I think she is like Marmite..you either love her blog or hate it!

I think this post is excellent - not just saying that out of sympathy, it really is - and I'm damn impressed she can even string a sentence together under the circumstances.

She has taken lots of flak on MN threads for being a bit twee, overly slick, etc etc (including some from me, I have to admit). I'd hate to see that happen again; although I'm sure she doesn't give a fuck at this point.

Tee2072 · 04/07/2011 20:31

I've never even heard of her, but how heartbreaking.

I'll dig deeper into her blog later.

cybboid · 04/07/2011 20:50

She's grown on me

nickschick · 04/07/2011 20:52

Poor CherrySad.

MmeLindor. · 04/07/2011 23:10

Oh, I remember how we laughed at her ever so saccharine blog.

That post is absolutely heart-breaking - the pic of Cherry's little girl holding the foot of her brother.

I do so hope that her husband recovers well and is soon home with his family.

WhatsWrongWithYou · 04/07/2011 23:15

I bookmarked her quilt-making instructions. Still haven't made a quilt but I like that there are people like her in the world.

Tulipsia · 19/07/2011 15:24

I think her entire website is fantastic!

And I intend to purchase her book when it comes out next year.

I want a house like hers instead of my ex-authority mid terrace :(, maybe one day.

DirtyMartini · 25/07/2011 19:37

I saw this come up the page again and had a look and ended up checking over at her site again. She has another post since the last one linked above.

I feel lots of regret for sniggering at her blog in the past. I am starting to think she is awesome. She seems very strong-minded and she writes really well about the emotional rollercoaster of her husband's cancer treatment.

Feeling increasingly uneasy about her blog and almost shameful and unwise exploitation of her children. It feels almost spooky looking at all these pictures of her homelife and I for one have now stopped reading the blog. Normal people do not advertise the most intimate details of their family life i.e. her husband's cancer to the whole world. The constant self promotion and pseudo religious - I love everyone nonsense is just absurd.
I am not a feminist but this woman does nothing for the role of women today.
Get over yourself Cherry.

ShirleyKnot · 30/07/2011 23:25

Ahh. The milk of human bileness floods through your veins localheroine

How sweet of you to burble your ill thought out shit all over someones pain.

Nice one.

localheroine · 31/07/2011 19:50

actually I have had cancer myself so know a lot about that and have every sympathy with her family situation. I simply do not believe that anyone's blog should be a vehicle for such private matters. And by the way resorting to profanities in your message is just so immature and shows a great lack of imagination. have a nice day sweetie.

stitchthis · 31/07/2011 20:41

Given recent shouty-ness in this neck of the MN wood, I am a bit nervous about commenting but feel it's worthwhile saying that while you believe that she shouldn't be sharing quite so much, in the end it's her decision to post and your decision to read. Some people deal with trauma and stress by talking about it a lot, sometimes to complete strangers ( I have done in the past in RL) and some clam up and choose to deal with it by themselves. Both equally valid approaches. I don't think a different approach warrants such description as 'absurd'. Great to voice an opinion, not so great to do so in a judgy manner IMHO.

MmeLindor. · 01/08/2011 17:13

I agree with Stitchthis.

Cherry is used to sharing her life with her blog and her readers, so it is a natural progression for her to share the news of her husband's cancer treatment. It would feel strange for her not to do so.

He has presumably given his permission.

LocalH
Everyone deals with the shit that life throws at them in a different manner, Cherry is dealing in this way.

I actually think more of her for doing this. It shows that she is genuine. She is not just showing off in the hope of getting a book deal out of her blog, she truly does share her life with her readers. It may be a bit twee and prettified, but it is her life and her blog.

Good luck to her and her family.

AbsDuCroissant · 01/08/2011 17:33

I too have poked fun at her in the past but man, those posts are heartbreaking. I don't know if I'd cope is something like that happened to DP, I really don't.

MichelleTwinMum · 10/04/2012 23:54

Wow, thanks for that DM link, interesting stuff! Mich x

KatMumsnet · 11/04/2012 14:57

Hi, we've moved this into Sleb Twaddle.

Whirliwig72 · 02/05/2012 13:55

This is very sad of me but can anyone give me a Cherry update? My tech savy husband had managed to block the site on our computers as an evil prank to stop me getting my daily fix Sad. Last thing I heard She was buying a house and had some unflattering publicity from the daily mail. What's new now?
