ok not everything from scratch - but shame on you

shame on those of you who went too far. Isn't this a place for some simple advice, in this case food. if i want to know about other matters re: kids / parenting then i'm in the right place yeah. no i don't know it all no i don't mill my own flour. but sometimes i don't want to cook when i come home. sometimes i'll do something simple and somtimes oven chips will come out.

The issue, and I read your other thread, is not what you are saying. It's the way you are saying it.

So, you're a man and you think you're going to lead all of us poor deluded wimmin down the path of cooking from scratch? Which, as you found out, most of us do.

And it did, also, read as an advert, even if you are a member of the Bloggers Network. The Network is not for advertising your blog, it's for sharing your blog with MNers who also blog.

You came across as smug and evangelical, so you got roasted.
Think about it, read your OP again and try and understand why you were mocked.

Don't know. I cook from scratch and have a shelf of cookbooks, so I didn't look.

TBH I have read the first few posts and you came across as very condescending - here to grace us all with the benefit of your 'great advice', thinking cooking from scratch is an amazing skill.... I am not surprised you got flamed.

I do have to agree with those who said that it was not the blog itself, but how you promoted it.

You do seem to have joined MN and the Bloggers' Network to up traffic to your blog. Ok, so most of us bloggers are doing this but your post was a bit too blatant and (sorry) patronising.

Yes, you got flamed but I bet you have had a good few hits and have some new readers. Take the advice you are getting here, apologise for advertising your blog and try again.

Presumably deleted as it was promoting his blog, Tee. Which is against the guidelines.

Maybe MmeL. But if he's part of the network, he is allowed to post a link to his blog. We've all done it!!

Think there is a fine line between promoting a blog and posting a link to one.

When I post a link to my blog here then it is mainly other bloggers who are reading it, and I will be readng their blogs too. Posting just to gather new readers is not the same.

Oh- I thought the bloggy bit was for mn bloggeers to promote their blogs, otherwise i'd have reported his post- I came across it on unanswered threads...
I see it deteriorated from there.
