Want it repaired with a stone of the same (diamond) that would cost 3 x the original price of the ring

Get a CZ replacement which would cost the same as the ring did originally

Get a replacement ring of similar style (cannot find one the same style anymore :() have seen a nice one that isn't as expensive as the repairs

or just not wear the ring anymore?

I don't know what to do, I don't really like not wearing the ring which is why I was wearing it without the stone but since it was sent away for an estimate I've got used to just wearing my wedding ring and not sure I'd be happy with a CZ replacement and I know dh won't pay for a replacement diamond!

is it not insured on your household insurance?

Bohica · 20/05/2011 09:59

Can you not claim for a new diamond on your household insurance?

Sorry, but you know dh won't pay for a diamond?! Is it not a joint decision?

Back to the question, my engagement ring needs recast (was dh's gran's) and has been in the safe for about 6 years!

whoops · 20/05/2011 10:06

he would be paying for it so what I would want wouldn't really count :( I don't think it is covered on the household insurance I think I rang them about it

whoops...what do you mean? quite honestly can you/dh afford to replace it with a diamond?
if he can then he should - why don't your wishes count?
if he's that tight perhaps you shouldnt wear the ring at all!

Dropdeadfred · 20/05/2011 10:08

if he cant afford it then thats different

whoops · 20/05/2011 10:24

we can't at the moment afford for a diamond to be put back in and tbh I'm not sure it is worth paying 3 x the original price for it either and I'm worried that it wouldn't look the same
Yes I was wondering about wearing it at all at the moment!!!

Why can't you do it through your insurance?

whoops · 20/05/2011 10:30

Not sure about the insurance although I have just changed companies at the renewal so may leave it a few weeks and ring the new company

I named my engagement ring along with some other jewelery as items worth more than £1000 with an excess of £200 I think, so well worth having a look at your policy.
