Very.
I think a bikini would have been more flattering.

MollysChambers · 19/04/2011 09:41

Indeed.

A flattering one piece with plenty of support and a pair of shorts to cover a wobbly arse and she'd have looked fine.

Would seriously hate to be papped on the beach.....

cyb · 19/04/2011 10:00

The thought of wearing all that fabric when its wet makes me Its the cap that makes it look so odd

but her first husband died of cancer (can't remember which type) and she is very fair - bloody DM nonsense again.

MollysChambers · 19/04/2011 10:05

You may have a point with the skin cancer but would liberally applied Factor 50 not be enough protection for the skin? Does she never wear short sleeves? I'm all for protecting against the sun btw - just seems extreme.

grumpypants · 19/04/2011 10:06

but if she is in the water a lot, a suit is much better than repeatedly covering yourself in sunscreen. Maybe she has a suspicious mole? Or is worried about skin cancer?

lettinggo · 19/04/2011 10:39

The DM are despicable. I don't care what Nigella wears on the beach (and yes I do get the irony of me beng on this thread and saying this!)

Longstocking2 · 19/04/2011 13:40

This is effectively a bathing machine response to the dangers of being papped on the beach.

The DM is EVIL personified. It's deranged with fascination with all weight issues 'she's too thin!' 'she's too fat', even the men get it.
Why can't the print some photos of the arseholes who write the sleb rubbish on the DM.

Does anyone think they are extremely beautiful people? It's like when, with respect, Allison Pearson had a go at Princess Beatrice for being too chubby for her swimsuit. Not a sisterly act however odious the Royal family is, poor lass, how many million girls are chubby at that age? And how terrible a self image would any woman in this country have if she cared what the DM thought?

SpringHeeledJack · 19/04/2011 13:44

hate hate hate the DM and all its Woman Hating Nastiness

Nigella can go swimming in a beekeeper's outfit and an umbrella hat for all I care. I bet she gives not a fig for the DM and all its vulgar eeevil.

Good luck to her.

EasterEggsHaveNoCalories · 19/04/2011 13:45

Thought those suits were to stop jellyfish stings? May be wrong though...

does anyone know who writes this stuff?
Is it all old men?
Are there women writing it?
Are they all beautiful?
Someone here must know.
Someone should get the Guardian to print a massive spread of all these journo's muffin tops and arsecracks and looking normal in public. I think that would be an Act of Solidarity for all Womankind in the UK and I vote for it.

queenceleste · 19/04/2011 13:52

Also someone should ask Allison Pearson about it tonight.
How did she write for such a misogynistic rag for so long?
Or did the 6 figure salary ease her pain?
Grin

HazeltheMcWitch · 19/04/2011 14:01

Agree with this - I saw the article and wondered what the point was. If she was in a bikini, the paps would no doubt be angling for a pic to break the earth shattering news that a fully grown lady has thighs. Or cellulite. Yikes.

So - yes, she is pale and maybe wants to stay so. Maybe she gets a bad reaction to the sun? Maybe for continuity reasons she needs to stay the same skintone. So many possibilities, none of which justify such cheap journalism.

But, have got to say, I wish I looked that good in bright light, in an ankle-legnth shroud with a baseball cap!

HazeltheMcWitch · 19/04/2011 14:03

Oh, forgot to add, this thread cannot pass by without us pondering that spiteful creature, Amanda Platell.

AnonymousBird · 19/04/2011 14:32

Her first dh died of cancer. suspect that is it.

who cares? damned DM.

SpringHeeledJack · 19/04/2011 15:04

oooh yes, Amanda Platell

verily she is not a person

more a collection of whizzing, whirling Spite Gas

TheOriginalFAB · 19/04/2011 15:05

Leave her alone. I am sure she has her reasons for wearing it. if she wore a bikini showing curvy wobbly bits someone would complain.

IngridBergman · 19/04/2011 15:09

Yes I'm sure she has her reasons, stupid daily mail, I hate it.

ShatnersBassoon · 19/04/2011 15:20

Awfully selfish of her, to hide away all the wobbly bits we could have had a right old laugh about.

She can wear whatever the ruddy hell she wants to wear in blazing sunshine in a poisonous creature-littered ocean. She's a sensible woman, so no wonder the DM are completely bemused by her choices.

HazeltheMcWitch · 19/04/2011 16:43

Yikes it's not just the Daily Mail - the Express and the Telegraph both have her on the front page! Madness.

missmelo · 19/04/2011 22:50

She could very well have some moles herself, I hope not. She is just being extra cautious imo. I love Nigella!

IngridBergman · 20/04/2011 07:57

Perhaps she just is modest about her body. They keep on and on about how she normally likes to show off her body in 'low cut tops' but having a bit of a cleavage is hardly the same as wearing a swimming costume is it Hmm

They are such a load of sexist wankers.
I don't know why she is wearing it and I don't give a shit, really. She's clearly clever enough to make her own decisions whatever her reasons might be. They're talking about her like she's an idiot, it's so disrespectful.
