Snuggly!

Beautiful smile

Dawn French is one lucky lady

Who wouldn't want to come home to this on their sofa?

Twiggy - How did we get from my hair being too short for a Big Hair Thingy (which I would never buy anyway, being a wash and go king of girl) to me being a skinhead?!

::Laces up DMs::

::Revs up Lambretta::

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 05/04/2011 22:06

Who's Lord Rule?

::Betrays awful Heyer ignorance::

LadyVenetia · 05/04/2011 22:08

Lord Rule is from The Convenient Marriage, has a lovely deep voice!

PassTheTwiglets · 05/04/2011 22:08

Maud, I thought I remembered you saying that your hair was like that really short Annie Lennox crop (which I think is acutally shaved), no? Apologies if I'm mistaken!

Lord Rule is the totty from A Convenient Marriage.

SupermassiveLBD · 05/04/2011 22:14

ROFLMAO @ the thought of the august Lord Rule being termed ''totty'' He'd probably choke! I expect he'd choke at the thought of being tried out too...

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 05/04/2011 22:26

I'm just pulling your leg, Twiggy.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 05/04/2011 22:29

I really need to get cracking with all this Heyer stuff, don't I?

::Wonders where she left Lord Damarel who, when last seen, was on the sofa under a blanket::

SupermassiveLBD · 05/04/2011 22:30

That would save a lot of money at the crimpers, Maud, that's for sure. To say nothing of not having to buy a big hair thingy.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 05/04/2011 22:34

Hmm. I think it would help, though, to be (a) young and (b) extraordinarily beautiful.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 05/04/2011 22:36

Scrub that last post. I am both of those things. ::cough:: Thank deity this isn't on skype.

SupermassiveLBD · 05/04/2011 22:49

Me too, Maud,

I must be off anyway, early start tomorrow.

Goodnight all and sweet dreams.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 05/04/2011 22:51

Sweet dreams to you too, Massive.

PassTheTwiglets · 06/04/2011 07:25

So did I imagine the Annie Lennox close crop then?!

Maud, have you heard no Heyer books yet? If so, I'd start with Sylvester or Venetia. I looooooooooooove how RA pronounces 'Damerel'. Being an estuary girl, I'd prounce the final 'el' like in 'little' - almost like Damerall. Bur he clearly says the 'e', like Damerell. Small matter but it give me a little frisson every time :)

OP posts:
LadyVenetia · 06/04/2011 08:31

All the Heyer books are great. Maybe you can get at least one from your library?

SupermassiveLBD · 06/04/2011 10:09

Lady Venetia, you are the voice of temptation.

TheSmallPrint · 06/04/2011 10:28

Morning all. I don't think you did imagine the Annie Lennox crop Twigs, I recall that post as well .

Well, I have been back to the docs today about my gout poorly foot. The GP seems flummoxed (not sure why tbh) and is going to try and review the Xray. In the meantime I have an appointment booked to see the foot man at the hospital in a months time. I wish I still had BUPA .

SupermassiveLBD · 06/04/2011 10:42

Oh, Small, so your foot is still giving you trouble? Sad

PassTheTwiglets · 06/04/2011 10:48

What a shame you have to wait so long for your appointment when it's causing you a lof pain, Small :( Do you have some nice, strong drugs at least?

Massive, I thought you had all the Heyers... which have you not heard? DrTwigs and I have a little break for our anniversary in Cambridge later in the month and I was planning to browse their fabulous 2nd-hand bookshops for the RA Heyers, as I have absolurtely ADORED them - but it's Easter Sunday & Monday and I have nasty feeling the shops will all be closed.

Urgh, I have had the RUBBISHEST MORNING EVER. Horrible bus driver who made me shout and then cry, snooty woman in shoe shop who told DS off for nothing, tantruming DS about being strapped back into the buggy, credit card not working, need to swap shoes for bigger size but buigger size out of stock... and so on and so on. I've just got home, had a big cry and now have a big piece of chocolate cake. This is, of course, counter-productive with me feeling miserable about not being able to lose weight but I'm all about the immediate gratification :)

SupermassiveLBD · 06/04/2011 11:16

Oh Twiggy,!Sad Very un-mumsnetty hug!

I only have Venetia in the audiobooks, my other RA one is Lords of the North . TBH I haven't really the time for audiobooks these days.

DumSpiroSpero · 06/04/2011 12:14

Morning Ladiez!

Have just had to post on this thread

Grin
SupermassiveLBD · 06/04/2011 12:19

Well spotted, Spiro Grin There was one about Lucas a bit ago but they didn't like what it rhymes with. I hadn't got round to thinking about that, myself, I was too distracted by other Lucasian qualities.

TheSmallPrint · 06/04/2011 14:02

Yes my foot is being a pain (ho ho), does not appear to getting better. GP has given me some different drugs in the meantime but I doubt they will do anything - the pain is too specific if that makes sense?

I suppose a month is not as long as some people have to wait for things on the NHS and actually the appt is at the local posh private hospital just up the road so not all bad. I suspect it will get better before then though -probably two days before the appt. just to spite me so will end up hobbling for a month then cancelling the hospital. Sod's law innit.

Twigs that sounds like an unhappy morning Sad hope the chocolate cake made up for it - can you send some this way if there's any left?

Spiro for all your good intentions I don't think she'll end up calling him Ralph, I forgot all about the Judy Blume book but now it's in her head she can't get rid of it.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 06/04/2011 15:16

Good afternoon, ladies.

I'm sorry to hear that Twiggy has had such a bummer of a morning and but glad that Small is to get further medical attention for her foot. I had to snigger at Spiro infiltrating yet another thread with Armitage propaganda! How goes it, Massive? And Lady Venetia?

SupermassiveLBD · 06/04/2011 15:40

To quote everyone's favourite optimist, everything is tickety-boo, chez Massive, thanks Maud. How are things in the land of toi?

PassTheTwiglets · 06/04/2011 16:05

What's the Judy Blume connection? Honestly though - how could anybody call a kid Ralph? And who's everyone favourite optimist? I am feeling particularly dense today!

The afternoon was much nicer - I laid in the glorious sunshine in the back garden, whilst TwigBoy pottered happily about. Now DD is home and it's whining, arguing, complaining and stropping, sigh. Still, I have a whole free day tomorrow, yippee!! It is much-needed. And even better is that we came home from Disney with leftover Euros so I have 'free' money with which to buy heaps of wine :o I will be off in an hour or so and not back until Friday. I'll be reading but probably not replying as I find it really tricky on a touch screen.
