Does anyone have any thoughts/comments on a 3 year expatriation to Qatar - I have 3 children 16, 14 and 10.

Go for it! Qatar is a great place for expats. I am sure you and your family will really enjoy it.

Good luck!

Maybe post on the Living Overseas topic - there are more expats there who could give advice.

No idea about Quatar, but I know a lovely blogger who writes about her life there.

Generally the younger the children, the easier they find moving abroad. It can be hard on teenagers, but presumably they would be going into international school?

Qatar is a great place. I've only ever been on holiday but have a couple of friends who worked and raised families there.

I have a friend who lived in Doha for three years and who couldn't wait to escape it. She found she had very little in common with the other expat mothers out there who seemed happy to fill their days with shopping, beauty therapy and bitching about their maids and nannies. She also loathed the difference in the treatment of white western immigrants and the virtual slavery of the muslim workers.
And the heat! She was separated from her family for weeks every year when they came back to the UK to escape the worst of the summer and she stayed out to work.

My idea of hell, but lots of people seem to love it.
