Ds is soon to be 5. I dont want to give him a big party as we want to take him to euro disney in may so thats his treat. He had a big party lastbyear anyway.

So i thought i'd invite his 'best' mates from school to gorock climbing and then have a spot of lunch. He's up for inviting them (there's 4 of them in their gang all boys) trouble is i feel like i need to invite some of the girls in his class whose mums i'm friendly with inc my best friends dd and my next door neighbour/childminders dd who is in his class. Where does it stop? What is the etiquete?

If you don't want a big thing - then just invite his gang of mates.

Invite his closest friends - not yours. It is his party - not yours :)

Ok will stick to his mates and hope i dont offend the other kids in his class. After all you cant do everything can you?

You could explain that he's not having a party this year but would they like to come round to play and eat some birthday cake?
