Time for a new specialism, methinks!

So were both useless this morning then?

I am on a birthday present mission today, I'd better laminate the credit card, I fear it is about to take some abuse! Grin

SupermassiveLBD · 26/02/2011 12:33

Hello ladies. I hope you days are improving vastly since this morening.

All is fine here on the island. I suppose boring is preferable to the wrong sort of excitement.

Here is an example of the

And for those on the phone and unable to open vids...

TheSmallPrint · 26/02/2011 16:36

Well thank you for that gift Massive. We have been to town this morning and even went to F&B for lunch (oh the excitement!Grin) I even managed to buy myself a top which is a rare treat. So yes day marginally improved. May go out this evening too. < decadent >

SupermassiveLBD · 26/02/2011 16:59

May go out this evening too. < decadent >

Goodness, however do you stand the pace, Small? Grin

Is it a nice top and do you think Lucas or JP would approve? I don't mention Gizzy as I am sure he would think most of our 21st century fashions are indecent.

PassTheTwiglets · 26/02/2011 17:23

Small, so glad you are feeling a little better. Re. Frankie & Benny's, it's just the sheer NOISE of the place that I can't bear, what with it being a family restaurant. DrTwiglets and I accidentally went there on our first ever night out alone, after we had DD. We had no idea what sort of place it was and didn't realise it would be full of shouting kids - we spent the whole evening wondering why we had a night away from our child, only to be surrounded by everybody else's :)

Oooooh, Massive... of all the screencaps in all the world, she had to link to that one...

PassTheTwiglets · 26/02/2011 17:25

Oh, also a big BOO HISS to the lady who makes that jewellery - she said she could make me another "cotton mill" one, but it would be $45 - it was only about $15 the first time round! :(

SupermassiveLBD · 26/02/2011 17:46

Twiglets, the cheeky madam $45? Shock

What did you tell her or can't you post that on a public forum?

F&B hazards duly noted, I think we nearly went to one last time I was back home but got diverted at the last moment to Pizza Hut. Mind you, that was not exactly quiet.

PassTheTwiglets · 26/02/2011 17:53

I just said the bank balance wouldn't stretch to that.
However, I am Very Very Excited because I am going to try and make my own! On her website, the silly woman wrote details of how she made them and what she used :) I've just bought some starter bits on eBay and will soon have a hunt for some charms. Not sure what to make though - the N&S ones definitely lend themselves most to that style but that wasn't my favourite of his works. But a Lucas one just seems a bit... fangirly, for some reason. N&S seems more "I am a grown woman" than a Spooks one :)

I am getting all ecxcited about having a new hobby - though I have neither spare time nor artistic talent, both of which would appear rather crucial to the project...

SupermassiveLBD · 26/02/2011 18:01

I must admit the Gizzy one made me wince Grin The Lucas one seemed positively restrained in comparison.

The N&S theme seems much more appropriate, as you say. They used to do similar sorts of fancy work in those days.

What about a Monet one, the colours would be lovely.

PassTheTwiglets · 26/02/2011 18:07

They used to do similar sorts of fancy work in those days.

That's it exactly, Massive! As for Monet - hmmm, where would I find a squirrel charm? :) I've not see The Impressionists but you're right, the colours would be gorgeous! I didn't like the Gizzy ones but I loved the little wolf charm. What would Lucas need - a kitchen table and a tall building? :)

I'm thinking I could do one of the dcs too - things like a star charm (ponce alert - MissTwiglets is named after a star in my favourite constellation), and their initials and things like that. And she used to adore Mary Poppins and that was a big part of her younger self, so I could get a little Mary Poppins charm... that sort of thing. What fun.

SupermassiveLBD · 26/02/2011 18:37

Just literally nearly PMSL @ the proposed Lucas charms.

The ones for the DCs sound inspired, so special and personalised.

I am not asking you to say more about your preferred constellation etc but my absolute fave is Orion -- you can see it from our front windows at certain times of the year and it is so spectacular with red Betelgeuse and blue Rigel and all. And his starry belt too of course.

PhoenixRisingFromTheAshes · 26/02/2011 18:48

Hey you could start your own business, Twigs!!! I've looked at that jewellery as I wouldnot mind a key ring or something like that, but I would need it to be something rather more subtle than the ones I have seen on sale, i.e. with only indirect references.

PassTheTwiglets · 26/02/2011 19:30

Oh, Orion is BEAUTIFUL. I suppose that is my aesthetic favourite but I love the other one for emotional reasons - will DM you (and anybody else who is inerested though suspect nobody is :) ) I love it when you can see the sword hanging from Orion's belt and you can tell that it's a really clear night.

Re. the jewellery, I love the yellow Helston roses...

DumSpiroSpero · 26/02/2011 19:54

Home at last - that was quite a trip!

Back later after food & a long soak...

OP posts:
PassTheTwiglets · 26/02/2011 19:55

Have you seen the Guy of Gisborne search engine?

SupermassiveLBD · 26/02/2011 20:02

Of oourse the fact that Orion has a broadsword plays no part whatsoever in my choice of constellations. Grin

SupermassiveLBD · 26/02/2011 20:06

Yes Twigs, I laughed my socks off at the yes/no options, Beg and You've made your choice.

Funny how that beg has captured our interest. It features in many a fan fic Blush

Welcome home Spiro, looking forward to hearing ALL about your trip.

PhoenixRisingFromTheAshes · 26/02/2011 20:06

Twigs, yes I just watched it - it's great!!!

PassTheTwiglets · 26/02/2011 20:12

just about to watch the "close your eyes" episode with DrTwigs - wish me luck :)

Spiro, did you have fun?

DumSpiroSpero · 26/02/2011 20:15

Found something for Maud, were she still with us...cravats

SupermassiveLBD · 26/02/2011 20:16

Goodness, Twiggy, be strong. Have a few Polish cordials beforehand to stiffen your resolve, as the actress said to the bishop.

PassTheTwiglets · 26/02/2011 20:21

There are lods of them, Spiro - she has about 150 photos of N&S ones!

TheSmallPrint · 26/02/2011 22:41

evening ladies, well we got to go to the cinema sans enfants tonight which was lovely. We went to see Paul which was extremely silly but quite entertaing - just what I needed really. Off to bed now because Im shattered. Catch up tomorrow

SupermassiveLBD · 26/02/2011 22:57

Night, Small, sleep tight, Glad you had a good evening sans kiddies, hooray!

DumSpiroSpero · 26/02/2011 23:23

Cooeee! Anyone in?

Had a v. long soak. Really want to watch a bit of Sparkhouse but seems indecently late.

Was not quite the trip I expected but nice nonetheless. Turned out DN had unexpected am-dram committments, so me, DD, SIL & DNephew went to the V & A instead.

Lots of half term activities for the kids (there's only 20 months between them & they got on really well) and some hardcore London travelling as the whole TfL system was shot to sh*t on every route we needed to go on. DD is very much getting the hang of the Tube, she was watching like a hawk for a free seat & when someone got off she went hooning straight down the carriage without so much as a 'look back at me' - not bad for only her 2nd trip to the Capital! Grin
