Anyone seen who is in the cast for the new Hobbit film...

Richard Armitage, Aiden Turner, James Nesbitt (swoon, swoonity mcswoon)

and rumours of David Tennant and Orlando Bloom.

Oh my goodness, I feel a renewed interest in J.R.R Tolkein coming on

Aiden Turner alone sells it to me, but the others are definitely an added bonus!

BachAtTheMoon · 12/02/2011 11:00

Most of them will be covered in beards and made to look craggy, though. Hiding all that loveliness

SupermassiveLBD · 12/02/2011 11:49

Your neighbours here might just have noticed the news, ladies...

As long as RA uses his voice I'm happy.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 13/02/2011 21:54

Hmmm.

OnEdge · 13/02/2011 21:56

Aiden Turner !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You just got my attention Grin

cornsilk · 13/02/2011 21:59

just googled aiden turner and still have no idea who he is
James Nesbitt was always a minger

PhoenixRisingFromTheAshes · 13/02/2011 22:18

Nothing wrong with a little bearded loveliness occasionally...or not

This is Aidan Turner....

JackieNo · 13/02/2011 22:23

But Aidan Turner and Richard Armitage as dwarves - how will that work?

JackieNo · 13/02/2011 22:25

\link{http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0903624/fullcredits\And maybe Leonard Nimoy as Smaug, and Sylvester McCoy as Radagast}!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 13/02/2011 22:29

Anything is possible with computers. This topic is, ahem, much discussed in the Armitage Academy next door.

JackieNo · 13/02/2011 22:35

I think it's as much as anything that I never expected to find myself fancying characters from The Hobbit Confused. It's Just Not Right, somehow, like fancying Winnie the Pooh, or something!

PassTheTwiglets · 13/02/2011 23:05

JackieNo, the dwarf in Lord Of The Rings was the tallest member of the cast.

JackieNo · 14/02/2011 08:01

PasstheTwiglets - was he? Wow - then I have faith that they can do it again (probably).

PassTheTwiglets · 14/02/2011 09:43

Jackie, I just Googled it and he is 6ft 1! He spent a lot of time in a trench, apparently.

TheSmallPrint · 14/02/2011 09:59

Surely if he was in a trench twigs we'd only see him from the waist up? Confused

Yes we are very happy about the casting next door.

thell · 14/02/2011 10:04

Radagast The Brown ?!
They seem to be sneaking lots of characters across from LOTR. Any sign of Tom Bombadil yet? Grin

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 14/02/2011 10:18

Yes, Small, but why did it have to be Tolkien?

::sobs a little::

PassTheTwiglets · 14/02/2011 10:25

You'd have thought so, Small... But the interview I read said that he spent his time permanently looking up, as either he was in a trench or the other actors were on a platform.

TheSmallPrint · 14/02/2011 11:02

Agree Maud, shame it's not something requiring a little less prosthetic 'enhancement'. And what a terrible shame to make those lovely 6ft +s seem so small .

TwoIfBySea · 17/02/2011 16:03

Booking my tickets for The Hobbit right now then. It was one of my favourite books, much easier to digest than the rambling Lord of the Rings (why didn't they use eagles to take them there in the first place?)

Anyway, having just sat through Gnomeo + Juliet when I really wanted to see True Grit I'll happily take dts to this. For them of course.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 22/02/2011 15:53

So selfless of you, TwoIfBySea. My own offspring is currently reading the Hobbit (a week after she had it read to her) so clearly she is the grip of an obsession and I will have to take her to see the film.

::noble::

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 22/02/2011 20:47

Yes, if they're a confident reader. If not, it makes a cracking book at bedtime for children who are that way inclined. As mine is. Obviously. I blame her father and his Elvish genes.

PortBlacksandGinLane · 22/02/2011 20:52

Thell - nice to see someone else who thinks the best character ever was ignored in the lotr films....
