Buy something smaller?

Doodlez · 07/02/2011 20:54

NEITHER!

We had a Q7 for less than 5 months. It got nicked off our drive way - theiving twats came into MY house when I was putting the children to bed. DH was out. They grabbed the key and took the car. It's right up there - top of the wish list for car thieves. It was also bloody awful to drive and visibility all around was appalling. Boot space was rubbish as well - such a massive hulk of a car and only space for two ruddy suitcases.

BMW X5 - vile, vile, vile - poncetastic car with little to no point.

Get a Landrover Discovery 3 or 4! Proper 4x4, with MASSIVE boot, loads of comfort, great visibility....everything a car this size should be.

Volvo xc90 . Love them. You can sleep in the boot it's so big.

Doodlez · 07/02/2011 21:09

YY - like the Volvo too.

If the 4x4 element to this is not really the point but rather you need 'space', check out the Renault 7 seat Espace. We had one of those for a few years and I loved it. Was good for fuel economy and an easy, light drive (especially given it's not a small car).

Just marking my place, I can't drive but we need a bigger car.

wideratthehips · 07/02/2011 21:31

love the xc90!
middle row has three seat that move independantly so good for car seats, the middle one on ours has an integral booster.

with the third row seats down the boot is massive.

i recommend having the side step for kids to get in/out

it also feels very safe and i don't feel embarrassed to drive it as i don't think its too ostentatious

you can also get lots of great add ons making life with small children easier on long drives

My friends with a DD with CP have an Espace too - enough room for all their children, luggage and her wheelchair :)
