Db is 40 in a couple of weeks, and I am stumped as to what to get him. I have created a photo book for him, which is great, but need a gift as well. My s-i-l hasn't been much help, she is also stumped.

He is cycling to Venice (from London Shock) with a friend to celebrate his birthday (going at the end of April, so a while after his actual birthday), and then meeting up with s-i-l and their 2 dds (aged 11 and 6), spending a couple of days in Venice and then flying back.

I'd like to get him either something bike-related or something they could do in Venice, looking to spend around £50, but could go a bit higher for a really inspired gift.

HELP!

Ooh, hard one.

Was thinking a watch initially but how about this?

Or anything that will help prevent saddlesores. He must be mad fit!

I organised a helicopter flight for my Husband it was pricey but my Two BIL's my brother and a friend went along too (paid for their own flight). Afterwards we all went for a picnic on the downs, was a lovely day

My bro is an avid cyclist and so I went on the Evans website and got him a good cycling jersey, £50, I think. Altura is a good brand. HTH

Got my husband a hot air balloon flight for his 40th. I bet you can do one in Venice. Not cycling related though sorry.

Does he drink? For a friends 40th we got him 40 different types of beer - he loved it!!!

Would he like a book?

I am told 'Cycling Home from Siberia' by Rob Lilwall is good. He was a geography teacher who cycled from Siberia to London. I have not read one bad review and am hoping to buy this for myself soon.

Another good book is Tim Moore's 'French Revolutions'. A London journalist (also a fan of Le Tour), who decided to cycle the route of the Tour de France that year. Has lots of interesting snippets about Le Tour's heroes and history.
