Anyone tell me how to link 2 different FB groups together?

Hi All!

Hoping someone can help me here.
A friend has asked for my help.
She runs two different groups, on a similar subject, and has a facebook profile for each group. She currently only updates 1 profile, and really should be doing them both, but wonders if there is a way of linking the two fb profiles together, so that when one is updated, the other one is automatically updated with the same information?

Many thanks!

the only thing i can suggest hun is to copy a link on the profile that doesnt have as much info, you cannot join up to profile but you can paste links of others on one

missjulie · 01/02/2011 17:02

Ah, ok!
:(

Thanks for the reply

Yes, I'm a FB freak too - on it every day, and i haven't a clue!
I have googled it, and it doesn't look as though you can - but thought some lovely MNetter might just know a way round it as i am not terrible technically minded! Grin

Lol!
Thanks, it's my friend who is bothered, giving herself lots of extra work! Said i would try help her!
My DH works away from home for sometimes months at a time, and FB is how we communicate!!! I would NEVER survive without it!!!
Modern technology! My mobile died on me, and i was without it for all of last week, and you would have thought someone had cut my arm off!!!!

I'm 99.9% sure it's not possible, as I said elsewhere. Grin

Thanks Tee!

Sorry for the duplicate thread!
Put it on here initially, and then found the Geek thread!!! -(still getting used to MN - sorry!)
Appreciate everyone's thoughts!
Keep them coming!

whats the reason for two, cant she just remove one profile?

missjulie · 01/02/2011 17:57

She set up one group informing the public about the group she runs, the other is her own profile page.
But, she has been a bit daft, and has been doing ALL the updates for the group on her own one!!! - her own one has over 500 members - and the group one about 150 or so
Am thinking she should maybe just sent all the 150 or so members of her group one a message re-directing them to her own profile page, and then re-naming her own profile so it is merged with the group, so to speak.
Hope that makes sense!

That's exactly what she needs to do, MissJ.

Post on the current profile the link to the one she wants them to follow and give them X amount of time to move over. Then delete the one she doesn't want them to follow.

missjulie · 01/02/2011 18:04

Yes, I think so Tee.
I put a post on her group page today, with the link of her own page, as a temporary measure, until she figures out what she is doing!!!

out of curiosity what is it the group is for?? or cant u tell us?

missjulie · 01/02/2011 18:22

I don't think she would mind, i think if anyone wished to join her groups she would be delighted!!!

www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=12174114365
This is the group - the one we think perhaps should close down.

www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=712334841
This is her own one, with more members, that we think should be tweeked perhaps to be the new group one.
