Watch out, Vaisey

Come on, Guy, stop looking so pretty and give us a good snarl!

Good night Techno. I am sure my dreams will be haunted tonight, with all that screen shot trawling.

Thanks for your help!

::Looks back at you::

Anything for a friend and fellow Academician.

A demain.

PassTheTwiglets · 17/01/2011 07:21

Hello!!

Haven't read anything since I left yet - blinkin' phone wouldn't let me look at Mumsnet as it was over 18s only, LOL! I am so far over 18 as to be unfunny. Anyhoo, just briefly stopping by to say that I Hope I haven't done anything wrong on Twitter. I replied to the tweets about who GTN was but then realised maybe that shouldn't have said it in a public forum? I'm not sure how much of a secret he is. I deleted the tweet but apologise for putting it out there in the first place! And what was Barry's GTN tweet about? (I couldn't find it).

Will catch up later - love to all!

MrsLucasNorth · 17/01/2011 08:02

I've no idea what Barry's tweet was about - something to do with cough medicine Confused?

Obviously my interpretation was slightly different Grin

PassTheTwiglets · 17/01/2011 08:33

Aha, just Googled and it's an angina medicine that can cause a cough. Glyceryl Trinitrate.

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 17/01/2011 09:33

Morning all.

Colin Firth has won the Golden Globe, so let us celebrate in the most appropriate way.

TheSmallPrint · 17/01/2011 09:38

Hey twigs welcome home Grin. Now, tell us about your train journey..

PassTheTwiglets · 17/01/2011 11:02

Right, DS is at nursery for first time by himself so I've had time to read through your ramblings thoughts from the last few days :o Train journey was lovely but YT wouldn't work so just browsed some lovely images :) Long list of disjointed replies now... bear with, bear with...

Tansye and Gisela made me giggle. Nice work, ladies!

Phoenix, a while back you said: "Syncing vids to a smartphone will be the same as syncing music." Um - what does syncing mean?! Putting something onto your phone? Thanks so much for the mention of RAFanVids, I'll have a look at that later. I tried to put RH1 on the phone but it didn't work :( I finally found out how to save a picture to the phone though, so I have some lovely new wallpaper :) Althoguh Dh has taken to playing with the phone so I'd better replace the wallpaper with one of him & the kids :) What plans do you have for your birthday, Phoenix, anything fun?

Techno, how are you enjoying Mr Monet et al? I wish that I'd known about this when DD was learning about Monet at school last year - would've been the perfect excuse to watch it :)

MrsLN, glad you've been enjoying the wares from your safehouse. I have got £10 worth of amazon credit as another birthday present and don't actually have much of the oeuvre left to own now Blush I got so much for my b'day and over the weekend I also got Convenient Marriage from my BIL & SIL and DH downloaded Sylvester for me! He's also got Strikeback sorted. I think it's only BtS that I'm interested in seeing now - not bothered about the squirrel-chinned painter, or Marie Lloyd, George Gently, Ultimate Force etc. Perhaps I'll keep the credit for when Spooks 9 is a bit cheaper (Actually I don't think it's even released yet). Of coruse it will be years before I get round to actually watching/listening to all this...

I made my first acquaintance with Sir Guy yesterday, whilst I was doing the ironing. Oh wow. Teri, you may have fangirl company soon :) He's so... well, he's just so.... oh, you know. I've waited so long to see him and he was worth the wait :) And his voice, oh his voice!! I've opnly ever seen YT vids with a msuic background so have never heard him speak before. Be still, my beating heart...

MrsLN, you haven't seen the Penry-Jones years?! You are missing a real treat. Series 4 was fantastic, hormones aside (oh and I love Ruth, by the way! She's one of my favourites!) It was hilarious last night - we were watching a Spooks 5 episode and Adam came onscreen looking amazingly hot and I instinctively went "mmmm..." Blush I thought I'd got away with it but DH burst out laughing and I then felt very silly :) Will see if I can find the RPJ moment to share with you later...

Will leave you with a little oddity that I found.

PassTheTwiglets · 17/01/2011 11:11

Can't find the exact screencap but it was taken from this scene where he was wearing a flak jacket. Doesn't look that good here but boy oh boy :)

Right, off to pick up DS - doesn't time fly when they're both at school?! Can't believe howe little I have got done!

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 17/01/2011 11:16

It is so wet and dark here that I am sheltering indoors, too cowardly to leave the house. The lovely Mr Firth is keeping me company -A Single Man - while I do the ironing. The mathematics of ironing always confuse me - how come in a house with two beds in regular use I have 5 duvet covers to iron?

Anyway, I am saving Monet and Venetia for the Right Moment.

Have we seen this impeccably-researched monograph before? .

TheSmallPrint · 17/01/2011 12:28

Twigs my DS is protesting most strongly about going to preschool now, this morning he hid under his duvet for about 20 minutes in an attempt to avoid it. Once we were there it was fine as opposed to last week which was like murder.

I fear I may be the only one who will join in your appreciation of the finer aspects of RPJ, feel free to drool discuss with meGrin

TheSmallPrint · 17/01/2011 12:31

Techno tis dark wet and miserable here too but I have had to venture out to school and then a meeting. I am off to meet a friend for lunch too - couldn't have picked a worse day!

Is a single man good? Can I rent it at blockbusters??

Btw, you do know about the breeding habits of washing don't you?

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 17/01/2011 12:47

Oh dear about pre-school lie-in protests.

A gift for Twigs and Small. Apparently, RPJ lived near here as a lad. I could have patted him on the head and given him a sweetie.

Ladies, if you want a compelling emotional experience you should get onto Amazon and buy A Single Man. It is breathtaking. Absolutely stunning and overwhelming. Worth every penny of £4.29 (and then more).

::thoroughly discombobulated for the rest of the day::

Theresaholeinyourmind · 17/01/2011 13:01

Somebody mention me? Can?t decide who is dishing out the imperatives in Techno?s latest vid, so I shall reserve comment? But the mynde boggleth busily away.

Well done Mr Darcy! Next stop the Oscar, we all hope. Nice to see you?re not just a smouldering face. Not that we don?t appreciate the smouldering, eh, ladies? Was there smouldering in Single Man, Techno? I wouldn't have thought so, but what does an ex-pat know

Twiggy, thanks for telling us about your adventures, I am sure you?ll get the hang of your phone soon. I have had my ordinary one for ever and still can?t figure out how to do some call-related things on it, never mind fancy stuff like vids, mp3 and t?interweb.

I am green with envy at your Armitagiana riches. I practically had to chop my mouse finger off last night in case it did anything I might regret. However today I may let it hover briefly at Amazon if I feel I can rein it in after one or two purchases.

I am so glad you have finally made the acquaintance of my lord of Gisborne, he is so very oooh, indeed. His voice does the most amazing things does it not, some of them possibly illegal. So you are most welcome to come and drool along with me, he has enough thudworthiness to go around.

In fact speaking of Guy, I spent the whole morning in his company and consequently I am almost wibbled out. My big question as I went into S1 was would I have fallen for him had I seen him from the beginning ??played as a robot?? as RA puts it. The answer is yes and no. No he?s no robot, however hard the Man might have tried, and yes, I would have been lost from the get-go. But you all knew that didn?t you? In short, he?s magnificent, and you even get a rare glimpse of the blue in his eyes. So Twigs, welcome to the club again! Teri and I will be useless for the rest of the day. Meanwhile of course RPJ is all yours and SmallPrint?s.

For once the weather is quite bright here, we had the dark wet and miserable yesterday and no doubt it will be back tomorrow. And as for the breeding habits of washing, my dirty linen basket seems to have developed intelligent life and it?s preparing to declare war on me.

PassTheTwiglets · 17/01/2011 13:08

Sorry to hear about SmallBoy protesting against preschool! I meant to ask you how he was getting on... good to hear he was ok when there at least! My DS was fine apparently - am Shock as have never had a child happy to go to school until now! Poor DD looks like she's coming down with the school lurgy though - she comes home for lunch twice a week and she looks dreadful at the moment and was sobbing because of a really bad headache. Needless to say the school didn't bother to phone - I think they'd only ring if a child's arm was actually hanging off...

Re. RPJ - I've always fancied him but never found him to be... ummm.... well, not exactly talented in his chosen career, shall we say? But was pleasantly surprised that he does actually act a bit in Spooks. I got Persuasion for my b'day but I fear he has sideburns in that.

Techno, do all PSMs live near you?!

I really want to see A Single Man but didn't think it worth buying as I can't imagine watching it more than once. But for £4ish I may find myself coming down with SPMFV1....

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 17/01/2011 13:14

Well, I have subdued the ironing and am gradually beating the washing into submission. The rain seems momentarily to have stopped - I can hear the hammering of the old guy in the back garden who is building a boat and gathering a lot of animals together - so may have to go out soon.

There is very little smouldering in A Single Man, Theresa, but oh, the emotional intensity. Oh, the visual beauty. Oh the mixture of joy and elegiac sadness.

::wibble::

MrsLucasNorth · 17/01/2011 13:17

I should have known the other GTN - I think that's the stuff in a spray that my dad takes for his angina.

I must link you guys to the interview I got distracted by the other night (in print form) - I had a brief flashback to something he said in it whilst manning reception this morning and had a quite a wibble - thought I might have to drag someone out of the office to take over for a minute! Grin

May have to revisit Lord Gisborne I think, too.

As for Moving On - I really wouldn't bother. Our man is lovely in it, as always, but the rest of the acting is not great, story line too involved to really be done justice in an hour and therefore weak and hurried, and far too many bursts of incredibly annoying incidental music based on theme tune of the series.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 17/01/2011 13:21
OP posts:
LaVieEnTechnicolor · 17/01/2011 13:21

Twigs - No, sadly, not as far as I know. But one - allegedly, if one believes what one reads on t'interweb, all of which (of course) is 100% reliable and trustworthy - lives nearby and the other went to school a stone's throw from here. I have no idea where he lives now.

::goes to google where Harry lives::

::stresses that this is a joke and she has no intention of doing so::

LaVieEnTechnicolor · 17/01/2011 13:26

Ah, but, Theresa. If you have a near-permanent ironing backlog (exacerbated by serious hand injury, necessitating a break from heavy manual labour such as ironing) then it is quite possible to be doing last week's ironing while this week's washing is still whizzing around in the machine.

And surely what you're after can't be bought on Amazon?

::runs and hides::

Theresaholeinyourmind · 17/01/2011 13:33

Who knows, Techno, maybe one day Santa's New Toy will go into mass production and then Teri will be able to get what she's after on Amazon.

I of course am far too refined to be after anything other than modest audio-visual representations.

How is the hand? That kind of cut can be really nasty. I hope it's healing properly.

OP posts:
LaVieEnTechnicolor · 17/01/2011 13:42

Yeah, the hand's fine now. I'm just camping it up for comic effect.

::heads out into the Stygian gloom, taking her delusions with her::

PassTheTwiglets · 17/01/2011 13:46
 This SPMFV1 is really infectious...

(Just remembered I still had RH3 to get!)

MrsLN, yes, please do link to the interview when you have time, I'd be interested to see!
