Money stolen by tradesman?

Hmmmm. We've just discovered that about £100 is missing from DD's piggy bank. In August we had an electrician in whilst we were on holiday. I don't remember when I last looked in the piggy bank but it's certainly not been since the electrician was in. I should have banked the money but DD was saving it for a Wii and between about Easter and this week I don't think we added any cash to it as her birthday money went straight into the bank as it was all cheques...

We don't think it was the electrician (we've used him before, seen him since, and at the end of the day he could have just charged more for the rewiring and we would have paid it). But he did employ at least 3 others (another electrician, a plasterer and a cleaner) and it could be one of them. We also had the loft insulated in October. That job was just a couple of hours so less likely that it happened then.

We're obviously Sad about losing the money and we feel a bit stupid...but we are wondering whether we should talk to the electrician. Another item went missing when he was working for us (a bottle opener which was screwed to a cupboard in the kitchen) and I think he should know if someone he is employing is nicking stuff.

WWYD?? I can't see that we can do anything...we won't see the money again but perhaps the electrician should know in any case...

That's :( about the money but I think it's a bit late tbh, if you'd noticed straight away then I'd say talk to him but August was a long time ago
