If you don't put pictures on Facebook .....

do you also not email photos to anybody?

I just discovered that on Facebook if you right click the image you can copy and paste the image location elsewhere on the internet. This made me consider deleting photos off my own Facebook and MN profiles. However I then thought I email photos and send USBs of photos to people and the same could happen. But I'm not sure I want to stop doing this because it is an easy way for friends and family who don't live nearby to see pics of us.

Yes, you can copy and paste any image on a computer.

I guess you have to weigh up whether you mind that image being used elsewhere, whether anyone is likely to want it, and what the implications would be if it went further.

So only post pics you'd be happy to have distributed anywhere.

My thoughts exactly Mary, I only post pictures I don't think it would do any harm to post. I ensure all of my profile my photos everything are only available to people on my friends list and I only have friends whom I know and would want close contact with most of which live far away.

Also what are people's reasons for not posting pictures on facebook? A lot of people seem to be worried about people editing the images into pornographic ones. But a paedophile could quite easily see that sort of image in real life on a beach and anyone could take a picture of your child when you are out and about and you wouldn't realise and if they were inclined to do so they could maybe edit it as well afterwards.

I do not put photos on FB because I would have no controle of what next happens to them. I do not worry about paedophiles too much. it is more a case of wanted to keep my private things private. I realised once when almoost sending a family video to YBF that not only would it be "public" but I would have no controle of the comments made on it and if I can avoid sending my family to the lions I will.

I know people can comment on anyhing if we are just out and about in the park and I have no controle over that either but we need to get out we do not need to put pictures on FB.

With FB/internet there is the added "bonus" of the copy and paste you mentionned and it would just sadden me to know that my beautiful holiday pics could be used to illustrate an essay about beach wales for exampleSmile. I think it just comes down to liking to keep my family stuff to my family. I do not show holiday pics (on paper support) much to my friends either. I do send some to my parents via email though as they live abroad and it is "vital" to keep some kind of link.

Does anyone know of an instant where FB has reused anyone's pictures? I know they could but I've never known it to actually happen.
