Not true. I have several people whose posts I've hidden but can and still do post to me and I get those notifications.

No you can just hide the one post or you can hide the whole person and get no more notifications

They can still post to you if hidden though

You won't get their status updates (or the endless stream of pointless updates on what they are doing in aquarium world etc which is why I have hidden several people) in your newsfeed, but if they post on your wall or send you a direct message you will see it.

You will get notifications if they comment on your status

I have just experimented and sometimes I get notifications but sometimes I don't .... weird.

If you hide them it just hides their status updates you don't get notifications for status updates anyway
