Oh Holly, that was.... sublime. Thank you.

PassTheTwiglets · 27/12/2010 10:55

Oooh that's lovely too, MrsLNP, thank you! How nice of him to wear his black shirt for me, under his jumpsuit :) Little Twiglet is better but not right. She is extra clingy and wants me to go and sit with her now so I'd best be off.

What a nuisance that your replacement disc was alsop corrupted, how frustrating.

SnowyMoon · 27/12/2010 12:03

Not back yet Holly, just thought Id share the local delicacies, back tomorrow snow allowing.

Twigs so sorry foryour sickness bugs, hope you all feel better soon. Sad

See you later, ladies and fellow academicians!

PassTheTwiglets · 27/12/2010 13:01

I am now laying on the sofa, laptop & headphones at the ready and am about to meet Mr Thornton for the first time

This quote from AA Milne seems apposite:

?"Well," said Pooh, "what I like best -- " and then he had to stop and think. Because although Eating Honey was a very good thing to do, there was a moment just before you began to eat it which was better than when you were, but he didn't know what it was called?

PassTheTwiglets · 27/12/2010 13:06

Is it me or does Margaret have a look of Charlotte Church about her?!

Theresahollyinyourmind · 27/12/2010 13:17

Dunno, Twigs, I am generally not looking at Margaret. Maybe around the eyes?

Pooh is quite the philospher, isn't he?
A graphic illustration of how to write a successful children's book. Have something in it for the grown-ups as well

PassTheTwiglets · 27/12/2010 13:26

Oooooh.... and there he is. Sigh. Beautiful.

Oh, oh, oh!! I was just about to post that but now he is shouting and beating people up and kicking them!!! Where is lovely Mr Thornton who picks roses so delicately?! I understand he was so angry about the danger of a fire in the mill but that was horrible. I trust the Academy's collective judgement and am sure he will be lovely soon but he is just scary at the moment.

Holls, he is so cute reading those stories - I've not seen them before, other than the odd clip, but now that I have sourced some headphones I can rectify that :)

Back to Scary Mr Thornton... Missy, I wish you were virtually here as I watch it!

Theresahollyinyourmind · 27/12/2010 13:40

Sorry, Twigs, I am otherwise engaged with another persona, who usually wears leather but isn't doing so at the moment.

You will soon forget about the beating up, when you see how lovely his gentler side is. He's a nam after all, as he will tell you, and men are sometimes a wee bit violent.

Aren't they, Messire Gisborne?

Theresahollyinyourmind · 27/12/2010 13:41

man , even. Guy is discombobulsting me

MrsLucasNorthPole · 27/12/2010 13:43

I noticed the Charlotte Church resemblance too!
There is a reason for the violence...am saying no more.
Enjoy your afternoon!

OP posts:
MrsLucasNorthPole · 27/12/2010 13:45

Guy is doing what to you?! Shock

OP posts:
PrairieOyster · 27/12/2010 13:46

Feel better Twiggy!

Theresahollyinyourmind · 27/12/2010 15:20

Message for MrsLNP. Can't spell, can I? Just the thought of Gizzy, and my fingers get dyslexic.

Shock indeed! How do you manage to avoid similar trauma? And how is your Work of Literature coming on?

How are you doing, Twiggy? Hope you are enjoying N&S more now and it is making you feel all warm and cosy.

PassTheTwiglets · 27/12/2010 15:49

DD is playing her DS in the same room and she just looked up and asked "Mummy, do you REALLY find this interesting to watch?" :)

I am loving the John & Margaret scenes (not just for obvious reasons) but I hadn't realised how upsetting the rest is! I simply can't deal with any suggestion of sad things happening to children these days and the little ones crying because they are hungry was too much for me. Am really enjoying it though, aside from the sad bits.

Feeling poorly does have its benefits though - I would never get away with lying on the sofa and watching N&S otherwise :)

PassTheTwiglets · 27/12/2010 16:04

"Miss Hale, my feelings for you are very strong..." But waaaaaahhhh, poor John, how could she reject him like that and imply that he wasn't a gentleman?!

DD now announcing that it is a silly, dumb programme and anybody who likes it is smelly. So that's told you :)

MrsLucasNorthPole · 27/12/2010 16:38

Twigs, my DD watched the second half of N & S with me and loved it - much to my amazement.

She will be studying the Victorians when she goes up to Yr 2 next September - am soooo looking forward to that!

OP posts:
MrsLucasNorthPole · 27/12/2010 16:39

Sounds like your DD is feeling better though Grin

OP posts:
PassTheTwiglets · 27/12/2010 17:08

Good Lord, there's a high body count in N&S, isn't there? It's upsetting DD a bit. She is better though - she is currently singing "Mummy and Lucas North, sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G" over and over again :o

Theresahollyinyourmind · 27/12/2010 17:20

That sounds a bit precarious, Twigs, I'm not sure Lucas is very keen on heights nowadays.

Xmas Grin though at your DD.

PassTheTwiglets · 27/12/2010 17:25

LOL, Holly! It's ok though, I'll hold on tightly.

PassTheTwiglets · 27/12/2010 19:04

Well now, that last half-hour was worth all the rest of the angst! "You're comin' home with me?" I cried at the sheer loveliness of it all. That kiss at the end.... oh, that kiss...

Theresahollyinyourmind · 27/12/2010 20:34

And in a few years time, when he comes home he'll be grumbling if the dinner's not ready, spend most of the evening with his head in Father's Plato, and offer nothing but grunts in response to any attempts to start a conversation.

And then disappear to the pub.

PassTheTwiglets · 27/12/2010 20:43

Shush, Naughty Holly!!!

MrsLucasNorthPole · 27/12/2010 20:59

"You're comin' home with me?"

I love, love, love that bit! Nearly fell of the sofa the first time I watched it Grin

Seriously - if you think N & S is upsetting though - don't bother getting BtS. There are some very satisfying, ahem, 'action' scenes sprinkled throughout, but let's just say his character does not turn out to be who you hope is at the end Sad
