DS bitten at soft play

DS (aged 3) was bitten by another child today at soft play. I didn't see it happen, but he told me which boy had done it.

It's the first time this has happened to us, and my reaction was just to comfort DS and tell him that the boy shouldn't have bitten him, and that it wasn't a nice thing to do.

With hindsight I'm wondering if I should have spoken to the mother (or poss childminder) who was with the alleged biter. But at the time I didn't feel like escalating it, in case it made the situation worse.

What's the etiquette for this?

It happens, some kids go through a phase. All of mine were bitten at least once in their younger days.

I would keep a close eye next time you encounter the child, and if you see him go in for the kill you can alert his carer. But don't fly off the handle.
