So, Flowers. Do you have your smelling salts at the ready? And a nice cologne-dipped hanky as a back-up?
This one is a bit N&S meets Mills and Boon. You can put on the black velvet mask if it all gets too much for you

asmallbunchofflowers · 23/11/2010 22:29

Cold Comfort Farm On Ice? You heard it here first, folks. All royalties to Theresa.

I've been watching Fred Astaire vids as I contemplate returning to my tap-dancing class. Then we might approach Mr Armitage about Cold Comfort Farm: The Musical.

Yes, Theresa.

Anyway, here goes with Hot and Cold North and South

Promise you won't look if it gets too steamy for you?

??It?s rather warm in here,?? said Mr Thornton ??Would you take it amiss, Miss Fleur, if I took off my coat?

??By no means??, Fleur hoped her voice was not betraying her extreme agitation at the thought of full-on floppy white shirt. ??I must admit, Dixon has been a little too generous with the coals. May I offer you a glass of something cold???

??Thank you, he said ??But I fear matters have gone a little too far for lemon barley water.?? And before her mesmerised gaze, his long fingers moved to the knot of the snowy cravat that graced his neck. He tugged fruitlessly and uttered a soft sigh of frustration ??I seem to have tied it too tightly. Would you assist me???

She nodded wordlessly, suddenly unable to breath and no longer daring to trust her voice. She seemed to float towards him, on legs that were far from steady, and reached up to tease the soft white material into its separate folds, praying he would not notice how her fingers trembled as she did so..

?Why won?t you look at me??? he asked softly as she finished her task, keeping her head bent as she retreated, so as not to subject herself to the troubling sight of his bared neck.

Because if I do, thought Fleur desperately, you?ll be smouldering, and I will abandon all semblance of decorum, throw my arms around you and beg for your kisses.

But too late, she had already felt his hot breath on her neck. Then his fingers were at her chin, tilting up her face and forcing her to meet the electric blue fire in his eyes?..

Goodness me, I check out the new building for the first time and you're on Page 2 already!

Stripey, I listened to that laugh several times and I know what you mean! I also listened to "come and find out" about a dozen times, I have to admit :) Is there an audio version of beg/fetch in the archive, btw? I've seen them as part of a vid with a soundtrack but can we actually hear Guy say it? Not that I'm any more than curious, you understand.

Another SFR fan here! I posted the SFR Sexy Back vid a while back but hadn't seen any of the rest. Oh and also, I honestly don't know about film editing, Flowers, it's just audio I used to edit. And even then it was before they went all digital and technical... a razor blade and a piece of tape, that was me! [ancient emoticon]

Started Spooks S3 tonight. Well looky-look, if it isn't Mr Carter. Hello, young man! He's ok actually, isn't he? I believe you now :)

Theresa, I liked your last essay in the old faculty building. "Thanks to all the boys for all the fun". Jolly well said.

MrsLN, can't wait to hear what you think of Golden Hour. I have yet to watch the final episode but I got to like it more by the end. I like Zoe Whatsherface in it. And the Irish guy is lovely.

Argh, I used to work 30 seconds walk from here and used to go into that building all the time! Not at the right time, obviously, harumph.

LOL! That hair might work with a scowl and the leather but it does NOT work here :)

Right, that's me done for today, ladies. Hubby out tomorrow so will be around more then - once my date with The Dr Track is finished. Night, all!

BodenBabe · 23/11/2010 22:40

Cor, Theresa!! I was all sleepy until that - now I suddenly feel wide awake :o Love the "why won't you look at me?" bit

Really going now. Night night, ladies.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 23/11/2010 22:42

Night, Boden. You are so not right about that ''bad hair'' photo. I think he looks charming.

asmallbunchofflowers · 23/11/2010 22:44

Oh my! Oh my!

OP posts:
asmallbunchofflowers · 23/11/2010 22:51

Oh Theresa. That is a heartbreaking work of staggering genius.

OP posts:
Theresaholeinyourmind · 23/11/2010 22:52

Mr Thorton is very sweet when he's being seductive, isn't he,the rogue? I bet he was angling for getting felt up under his floppy white shirt, why else was he doing a strip-tease for you?

You are so lucky, he's no one's fool, strict but fair to the world at large, but tender-hearted and with none of the angst that hangs around Guy and Lucas like a miasma of too much aftershave.

Of course you are Fleur, I just though you might like to pretend to the ouside world that you are not. Get in there and give him a kissy

Meanwhile on the screen, some waves crashing to the shore, storm-tossed trees or something. Maybe clouds racing across the moon.

Bloomin' Gisborne, why can't you be nice like that?

asmallbunchofflowers · 23/11/2010 23:13

Are you still here, Theresa? Although I cannot thank you enough, I would like to offer a small gift - .

OP posts:
Theresaholeinyourmind · 23/11/2010 23:14

That scene is long over-due for a remake. It was rather naughty for its day wasn't it?

asmallbunchofflowers · 23/11/2010 23:17

It was utterly scandalous at the time.

And have just been thinking that Mr Thornton does have his moment of Badness. He subverts the police investigation into the death of the man at the railway station. (All for the sake of love, of course).

OP posts:
Theresaholeinyourmind · 23/11/2010 23:23

Oh swoon and thud, here I go again.
I can't get over how much I like to see him ride a horse , it's total lunacy.

I do wish he'd be sweet, sometimes, like Mr Thornton. But the smirk makes up for a lot.

Thanks, Flowers, a real treat. This has to be one of my favourites.

BTW have you recovered from your Big Adeventure yet?

Theresaholeinyourmind · 23/11/2010 23:23

Why did I post twice. ????

Theresaholeinyourmind · 23/11/2010 23:24

I didn't. Put it all down to that bad man of mine.

asmallbunchofflowers · 23/11/2010 23:35

No, I have not recovered. I am barely over (sorry to mention it again) gazing across at The Chiselled Profile on Sunday night. Coming so soon after that, your little vignette has left me completely discombobulated. I think I must have developed a very Victorian sensibility - the mere mention of the cravat being undone has sent me into such a paroxysm that any further Overt References are completely superfluous.

I'm so glad you liked the gift. I'm afraid it's second hand, as we've seen it before, but it has several Moments.

OP posts:
Theresaholeinyourmind · 23/11/2010 23:41

What with you and your cravats and me and my horse-riding, and our dislike of the soi-disant armour erotica, we are an unusual pair of academics. But devoted and loyal, withal.

asmallbunchofflowers · 23/11/2010 23:52

Oh, do you think? I thought we were a very diverse and catholic collection of academics here, with broad-ranging research interests. After all, one has to specialise.

And I guess it's not the cravat qua cravat. It's the cravat signifying Mr Thornton as closed and reserved, until he reveals his feelings and throat to the world. And there's a lot of symbolism in the exposure of the naked throat, vulnerability et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.

But I guess I do instinctively recoil from anything that's conspicuously trying too hard to be erotic, on the grounds that if it's genuinely erotic it won't have to proclaim itself so loudly because One Will Just Know.

OP posts:
Theresaholeinyourmind · 23/11/2010 23:58

And so saying, I think I had better say goodnight.

Theresaholeinyourmind · 24/11/2010 00:01

Oh, sorry, yes, I know what you mean about the cravat.. And horseriding must mean something too, if I could only think of something sensible this time of night.

asmallbunchofflowers · 24/11/2010 00:02

Yes, me too. Up the wooden hill to Bedfordshire.

Good night and sweet dreams.
